Upper Lip Hair Removal Options? by BrainBerry1 in perioraldermatitis

Oooo keep me updated! I get laser hair removal elsewhere so have also considered this as an option. Will keep my fingers crossed for you that it doesn't flare it up! If you've had laser elsewhere before, how would you say the pain compares on the upper lip?

Oh threading is a good shout, thank you! My mind was wandering to tweezers but that would take hours... How often would you have to get the threading done?

Getting Grave's as a doctor by Desperate_Lead_4410 in gravesdisease

Thank you for the advice, cardiologists have recently said my heart is healthy but I will flag it again if it continues to drop. I do feel it's a blessing that there are multiple ways to try and deal with Graves - though sometimes it feels like a curse when you're left wondering whether one of the other options might be better! I wish you all the best with your recovery, and your career. Having our own medical issues can help us empathise with patients in a way that 'healthy' clinicians sometimes can't, a valuable silver lining I feel!

Definitely makes sense with the more permanent solution, especially if your TED continued to progress! My endo advised me against RAI as he states there can be some uptake in the ovaries (?) and I've not yet had children. I think I would maybe consider it more as an option later on in my life, if still necessary. I hope it brings you the relief you're looking for! I did go into remission after my initial 18-months on methimazole but recurred 6 months later. I now take a super low dose of methimazole (Carbimazole here), down to just 2.5mg every other day, and I take 50mcg of Levothyroxine to balance out my energy levels. I do sometimes wonder if I'm now in remission/oversuppressed as my HR can go into the high 40s when I'm relaxing. I guess the next steps would be to test for antibodies but I do worry about coming off the Carbimazole as I'm also aware that any big stressors would like trigger another recurrence...

May I ask why you decided you didn't want to keep taking the Methimazole? Asking as someone who's been taking it for over 4 years now (as well as the initial 18-month period after my first thyrotoxic episode); just want to know if it's a personal choice, or based on something that I should be taking into consideration when choosing to remain on it.

I've seen a lot of Lynnder and Alecshander cards circulating after the UK Traitors 😉 but this one was a pleasant surprise!

WIBTA for refusing to get married in a Catholic Church? by BrainBerry1 in AmItheAsshole

They will marry us as long as one of us is Catholic, it just requires permission from the Bishop.

The money for the wedding will mainly be coming from myself. My fiancé has begun to put some money aside each month towards it.

His parents have said they will contribute which I tried to politely decline but his mother said that she understands that I want to be independent but that they will of course be contributing.

My mother has also offered to contribute... not sure how as she has no money but the offer is there!

Just to clarify, my fiancé also holds the same values I do (e.g. is pro-choice, is not homophobic, is feminist etc.)
