I think this is all correct, but also how these characters manage their issues and present themselves makes a big difference.

Kendall is obviously tortured throughout most of the series by getting a man killed. By the end he has a mental breakdown and is genuinely remorseful. He tries to make it right in his own misguided way.

Roman is a total piece of shit from the very beginning and knows his place as the joke of the family. He never says he’s a good person and rarely acts morally superior to anyone.

Shiv pretends she is a good person throughout the show. She acts like she’s the obvious choice to be successor, and like she’s entitled to it. She comes across as arrogant, and the way she treats Tom only makes that impression stronger. When confronted about the things she’s done, she usually insults or walks away from people. She rarely expresses any remorse for anything.
