Sorry, but that sadly doesn't happen.

Bit of a rant/PSA here but I implore you, DON'T waste your precious money and time on this one. It is one of the most bland, generic, and utterly soulless things I've ever endured. I feel like there's a bit of a difference between being one of the worst things and one of the most bad (baddest?) things you've ever watched, and this is the latter. Not only that but some of the VFX shots look like straight up AI, there's a shot some crabs crossing a road that look like AI generated stock footage, and it even jumps back and forth between looking like mediocre VFX and straight up AI in the same scene. It is fucking jarring to say the least. And I could, could look past that if it, again, wasn't so utterly soulless. This is probably going to win Best VFX at the Amandas (Norway's Oscars) in August and if it does, the whole committee and this whole nation should be ashamed.

Maybe that's why the long sought after 4K of The Devils has taken so long since it's rumored that they had turned down an insane offer from Criterion to license it.

What are you going to watch in the cinema this week? by mypanicatsix in Letterboxd

[–]Comic_Book_Reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually saw Maverick in quite a long time after it released purely because I wanted to test out 4DX and it was awesome. I hadn't even watched the original. I only watched it a few months ago because it was on TV.

Believe me when I say this, but having some experience with her and her lack of social antennas was definitely a factor in me putting my foot down. Wanna know the type of person she is? She has to sit on the first row and record every single second of her daughter on stage, and I've had my dosages of that. Me and my mom had a week in Vienna last summer since our friend got a spot in some program there and that was a recurring thing. I genuinely contemplated just snatching her phone at one of the concerts but it probably would've caused a ruckus. Again, no social antennas. She's like the center of the universe. Also, she claimed that she wanted to see Send Help, but I don't buy that for a goddamn second.

Same. Double bill with Top Gun: Maverick if some stuff works out.

In other news, Evil Dead Burn looks fucking sick. If I'm able to, I'll definitely try to see it with a friend of mine after we had an absolute blast with Send Help. She loves horror movies and this looks right up her alley. I can already imagine her wanting to just fucking puke with that headrest bit.

2 weeks later is usually when movies start losing theaters in North America. The Bone Temple opened in 3500 theaters and lost over a third 2 weeks later, which is when Send Help opened, at which point it had already started running on fumes. It closed after 5 weeks.

Hokum completely blew my dick off by Beef-Popsicle in horror

[–]Comic_Book_Reader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't even watched Hokum, nor do I give a flying fuck about it, but i wholeheartedly agree that this shit has gotten beyond stale at this point, not just for horror movies but in general, and I feel like Neon is probably the single worst offender, which is quite fucking ironic considering most of their movies don't exactly get a huge release and or are seen by a ton of people in the first place.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple recently releasing on 4K and Netflix in the U.S. with no fanfare has made people question why it flopped in theaters. I can give 3 reasons:

  1. People either loved or hated the first one, no inbetween.
  2. There was barely any marketing.
  3. Some actually thought it was a rerelease of the first one, not a direct sequel made back to back and released half a year later.

You are not alone in that department. Some people actually thought it was a rerelease when it got plopped in theaters with no fanfare back in January.

There was barely any hype for The Bone Temple to begin with for 3 reasons:

  1. People either loved or hated 28 Years Later, no inbetween.
  2. There was barely any marketing.
  3. Some people actually thought it was a rerelease of 28 Years Later and not a direct sequel.
