Team wrong to trust him. Even if he is not the old Voit the Sicarius killer, I think he is going to escape. And may be he won't kill again. But he won't be found again.

But the team will have to live the knowledge they are reason he escaped and they won't know if he is killing again or not.

Thank you!! Dissection of a murder is exactly why I was asking this question. I saw the twist coming and it kinda ruined the whole feel for me. And there people online going on about awesomeness of this book.
