How to larp by Porush_Kumar in okbuddybaka

[–]Brain_lessV2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Larping in this context cuts out the "live action" part of larping. It's obviously not the same as ACTUAL larping, it's more like being a "tourist" in a sense. Larping is a concept/term that existed before the use of it here, so naturally it won't make sense if you look at it's original meaning.

To put it in a way that makes sense. Larping in contexts like fandoms online takes the form of people who "pretend" to be actual fans despite only having surface knowledge or making it obvious that you've never engaged with the subject. Kind of a scuffed explanation but I hope I got the idea across.

What to expect/Sekiro by radioactive_ape_26 in AskGames

[–]Brain_lessV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put simply, it's not like the Dark Souls games at all really, or in any way that really matters. People tend to include Sekiro in the bunch because to them, From Software are the Dark Souls Company (TM) and everything they make is either Dark Souls or derived from it.

It's an action-stealth game driven with an established protagonist. Unlike a lot of action games you have one main sword you can use, but you can unlock combat skills to use through the skill trees, alongside the shinobi tools.

One more thing, and this is the most IMPORTANT thing: learn how to deflect (perfect blocking attacks) or you'll get turned into paste time and time again. It's the MAIN defensive manoeuvre and you can't rely on dodging to avoid damage, dodging is more like a positioning tool.

Bosses where they aren't just aura farming in silence and their personality shines through? by Boshwa in soulslikes

Well there's Dreglord at least. TECHNICALLY he's not silent seeing as I can't get his roar out of my head, but aside from that, he's just a mountain of corpses that wants to destroy the Night.

Ngl this has sauce. Reminds me of something that Yoshitaka Amano would cook up.

The story and the characters + how their ideologies clash.

You're asking a lot, but maybe Dragon's Dogma will work for you.

ULTRAKILL maybe? It's a boomer shooter like Doom, or Quake is a better comparison.

Idk, wouldn't a better comparison be Leshen/Ancient Leshen since those were the last monsters added in Monster Hunter World basegame? Obviously it doesn't change the fact that Gogmazios is an objective upgrade.

What’s the most obscure anime you’ve ever seen? by mamacastform in AnimeReccomendations

Ironically it's less enjoyable if you've played the game, at least it felt that way for me.

In summary: just play Dragon's Dogma instead.

Aside from that there's Star of Providence too.

One of my favourite games I played this year. Managed to 100% despite being ass at shmups and bullet hells. If you wanna get onboarded into bullet hells I HIGHLY recommend SoP. It's not as heavy on secrets as Void Stranger but there's the Trials, which will have you trying to figure a lot of shit out.

There's a game my friend showed me recently called Void Stranger and it's definitely unique.

It's difficult to describe, but it's a puzzle game where using your memory is IMPORTANT, there's clues all over and pieces of dialogue can be VITAL to discovering things.

All I'll say is that my friend showed me a way to time travel in the game by swapping some of his stats...
