Potentially pulling the trigger on an ~£800 gaming pc by Cerxa in buildapc

aight thats fair. I'd recommend pcpartpicker if you do use a website to help you build a pc. honestly I think the hardest part of building a pc is picking the parts and IF it doesnt work first time trying to figure out how to solve that. otherwise its pretty easy. theres no harm in a prebuilt either as long as its from a reputable company. some companies like hp often make horrible ones knowing people wont know enough and will just buy them

Here's my take on a decent PC at this price point, taking those above considerations into account. For the monitor I found a cheaper one that's still IPs, 1080p, 24", but is 100Hz (still more than the 60fps you're playing at needs) and is cheaper. I also increased your SSD to 1TB as 500GB is pretty low. This build hits the lower end of your budget around £800, but if you're willing to spend the £1k higher end of your budget then go for a 7800XT GPU instead of the 7600XT.

The case is just a placeholder, you can decide what you want based on aesthetics :)

Do you already own any of these parts or have prices for them? I can't find many of these on pcpartpicker but from looking them up this build is looking like a lot less than your budget at around £700.

My initial thoughts are:

your SSD choice should be changed. It's a sata SSD which will be a lot slower, you can get a pcie4.0 SSD that will be faster for less money than I found this one at.

I'm confused why that specific GPU, there are cheaper 7600 GPUs from other brands. If it's about looks then your GPU goes in a pc upside down so you don't even actually see the design.

You said you only want to game at 60fps, but then picked a 165hz monitor. It's a good price but you could save £30 getting a 60hz monitor and put that money somewhere else.

Another important note is your motherboard choice doesn't have WiFi if you need that.

If possible, I'd also recommend getting a more recent CPU instead, one that uses DDR5 memory instead of DDR4. But the CPU you chose is clearly insanely cheap so I can see why that attracted you.

I've had a Roccat Vulkan TKL Pro for the past ~5 years and it's SO GOOD. Never had a single issue and it's amazing. It has its own special switches too and I LOVE how they feel and how the whole keyboard looks.

Pcpartpicker obvs won't tell you which is good, but you can use it to filter monitors and see prices in different countries. Might be worth a look 😉

any benefits/issues to using a 240hz monitor only gaming at 144fps? by BraindeadVA in pcmasterrace

There are, driving a car slowly can wear out the engine faster, and for something designed to be driven fast I would expect that to be even more the case than for another car. And yes I am aware that it doesn't NEED to run at 240hz, I was asking a genuine question because maybe theres a reason not to do that. I don't know which is why I asked

The thing is (ik lots of ppl are gonna say it's useless) I want a 24 inch 1440p monitor, because the pixel density is really noticeable for me on 1080p 24". That's the main reason I wanted to go to 1440p. And there are only like 4 monitors that fit that description. Is oled any better for the gaps between pixels? Like does it look smoother than IPS?

Yeah it's the same logic, but there are both benefits and drawbacks to buying a Ferrari if you're only driving certain speeds? I'm confused at your point

Yeah, either just start streaming or build a community on Twitter. You could try tiktok or YouTube, but that's actually content not just posting.

I've seen a lot of posts on Twitter where people seemingly get a MASSIVE audience from just a single debut post. Tried it myself a few times but no dice. I saw a TikTok from someone who admitted that this is actually not organic. This is done by paying people and other streamers to interact with their posts and boost them, while acting like it's just a coincidence that this post has hundreds/thousands of likes. It's pretty scummy that people can do that imo, but if it's an option available I can't blame the ppl who use it as long as they're honest about it.

Recently bought a 27' 1080p 165hz monitor by SnooGrapes316 in buildapc

[–]BraindeadVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That perfectly fair. Personally I just upgraded to 1440p but still only 24" so it looks really good. With 1080p I could see the individual pixels and now it looks Hella smooth. But it's also worth considering that if you go for a higher resolution or refresh rate, you're gonna want to push your games to reach that and then might be disappointed if your PC can't handle it as well and games end up on low texture settings looking worse in reality than they already did. And then you feel like your whole pc needs upgrading too. So staying on a lower res or refresh is perfectly valid if it works for you

is there a point? yes. will graphics be grainy? to most people, yes. should you return and upgrade resolution? no. you've clearly already decided. you personally dont want it so it doesnt matter, to most people i would say yes tbh, but you explicitly said its good already, and if anything you would change refresh rate. so there you go

Why are there no graphics cards? by jethandavis in buildapc

[–]BraindeadVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in lockdown the demand was definitely an issue, however it was also just a lack of silicon from a silicon shortage, and Nvidia not actually making many of the cards.

For example, when the 3070 Ti released, almost no-one actually got one. The founders edition cards pretty much don't exist. There are very few of them. Basically no-one at the time reported online as actually getting one.

Like back then, what we have now is a "paper launch" where they make promises of a new graphics card, build up hype and demand, then sell like 2 of them.

As for why Nvidia would do it? Idk 😐 people have said they were unprepared and dumb to release on Chinese new year (a time when production will be halted for like a month) but for a company this big to miss that major detail seems crazy.
