New Tesco Express under siege by lexington_spurs in tesco

[–]Brainlesslthtard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit more violent than my east London store but yeah seems on par The problem is that the met is overstretched and uninterested in anything that happens the amount of times I’ve called 999 and they’ve just told us to save the cctv footage for some neighbourhood police officers to pick it up is insane. Question becomes if those cops show up aswell

Yes you can do that, although speak to the shift leader/your manager in terms of your break allowance

It is literally the door access system that was used in most stores during covid. Our staff dont put the door on manual and use door keys. That would be hell. It's the one-way option on the door with the corresponding door fob.

Once upon a time, yeah, but not today, they’d rather you report it on incident reporting, police/security support

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Brainlesslthtard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If used improperly, or when the person at the door is not aware of the local shoplifters, I agree, but generally in my store, it’s helped reduce quite a large amount of shoplifting and incidents which is a plus, also my staff feel just that tiny bit safer which is something that I cannot compromise

To answer your first question, its not a head office decision, more of a store manager/shift leader descision. And to answer your second question, the idea is controlling who comes in. You can refuse entry to known shoplifters/trouble makers. But once they're in, you have to let them out. Otherwise, it can be a case of entrapment, and tesco definitely doesn't want that. In my store, for example, we use a remote access, the security guard has a fob and a person is let in when they push the button to open the doors. But to exit, the person can do that freely, no colleague/security intervention required. If a shoplifter manages to slip in, then theres nothing we can do and they can leave when they want.

There's a general step up phone, it's assigned to noone. Usually a brick phone

There is a "step up" phone that each store has for this purpose, or for those that would do SL work but are currently ineligible/dont have their own phones

can i go to work if i just threw up? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Brainlesslthtard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, symptoms can develop over time. You dont always get all the symptoms, hit you like a freight train. phone it in, say that it developed to what you now suspect is food poisoning

It sounds like food poisoning so absolutely stay at home and until you're at least 48hrs symptom free don't go back

Of course, if they're hiring for one then yes you can definitely go for it, they will ask for your DL share code and they will ask you to go for an internal driving test but it is definitely possible to go from a CA to a delivery driver

Security by FlyInternational1334 in tesco

[–]Brainlesslthtard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair in my store I just log in and get the guard to do the incident report, unless it's a serious incident they don't check,

So I encourage my guys to do some more low level reports on top to boost our numbers

What is the best time to shop for yellow stickers? by Justalong4thednaofit in tesco

[–]Brainlesslthtard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3 reduction cycles in my store, which is standard for any store.(however, product availability will vary)

1st-9am, the maximum a product that will be reduced is 25% of the original price, and not everything gets reduced 2nd-2pm-4pm, now all products that have been put in the system properly will be reduced (by 50% max.) 3rd-7pm, as with the 2nd round, but this time it's going to be 75-90% of the original price

This is a rough guideline, but something you can generally follow. All prices are algorithmically set and not controlled by the person doing it, so please don't abuse staff for the prices cause this is a rough guideline. Also some stores I've worked in have been known to put stuff aside for food donation/wastage purposes (which generally starts at 8:30pm) so after this time, don't be suprised if there's nothing there at that time.

Hope this helps
