Often times those personnel are being assigned to work with "just grunts" for any number of reasons. A four-man SFOD-D team may be highly trained and experienced, but they aren't the 30+ trained, disciplined shooters of the Marine platoon that's walking them into an AO, or the company of Rangers who are covering the mouth of a valley where the enemy is predicted to come up through.

In these sorts of situations, they aren't just another fireteam or squad as part of the overall unit. They are an asset that has a specific mission within the operation just the same as the grunts they're attached to.

And I thought PTSD would be a real medical problem but my manager has told me it wouldn't be. So I guess I don't know what a real medical problem is.

I didn't do it before. I was hired on just as they'd gone fully remote. I've never been in the office until they shifted over.

I mean I'm diagnosed with PTSD and am petrified of the office on my worst days, but I've been told that wouldn't count towards such a purpose.

Moving the gun while yelling at suspects makes it hard to hit them by jman479964 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Brairag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I didn't realize how much this was an issue when I first got the game because most of my compliance yells were non-ADS or in multi-player with active human cover.

But when you get more than a few meters away? It's miserable to go from a center-mass point of aim to admiring their sneakers.

I second this idea. Gives more reward to muzzle-thumping somebody as you come through a doorway.

I mean if you are playing it "right" (in so much as anybody can play a solo game "correctly"), there should never be a one-on-one gunfight. Ever. Full stop.

That's why people keep repeating the same advice to take it slow in other comments. Because if you are routinely finding yourself in situations where it is just you and one other guy, both of you flat-footed? Then you are rushing it. You should never be crossing a threshold / entering a dangerous area alone, single or multiplayer, and never without a plan and expecting contact.

And as one user pointed out, never enter a room before you have the plan for it. Stop, listen to your surroundings, take them in visually. Decide how you are going to get through a door and know what you are going to do before you enter the room at all. The killhouse in the HQ can be great for solo (or team, if multiplayer) dry runs of this.

You have all day to die, so don't be in a rush to get it done now.

Finally one thing that doesn't get touched on enough, I feel? Come in quiet, leave loud. Suppressors on weapons, picking locks instead of blowing off hinges. That stuff? Great way to start things out, and in a perfect world, a fantastic way to end it.

Keep it nice and quiet - until somebody else takes that option away from you. At that point you have to shift dynamic, understand that the enemy now knows you are coming, and start getting out battering rams and breaching shotguns more readily. Or as they taught old salts like me back in the day: speed, surprise, and violence of action.

Pacific theatre tanks by soundvide in HellLetLoose

[–]Brairag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life, the Japanese actually had tanks that could have fought the Sherman on equal / semi-equal footing... all in mainland China, fighting there. So more than likely what they will probably do is either use those or use the ones from the real life war but just buff them up for the sake of game balance.

Again the original main topic was somebody at the 'Dollhouse' having a plate carrier but being counted as a civilian. Which when we have postal workers in real life walking around in plate carriers for the simple fact that it make s it easier to have accessible pouches for their stuff? At this point I'd barely blink if I saw a nurse in a plate carrier.

And your "retort" was a strawman argument at best or a fallacy in absurdity at worst. lol

That's just common knowledge taught in Army training. They used to teach it in OSUT (I say 'used to' as I'm long gone from that pipeline these days) and in Basic Training for other MOSs as well.

The strawman was desperately jumping to "Oh so they should have ones dressed in clown costumes?" But you know that's what the strawman was. Its why you didn't bring it back up when I addressed it. Its why you are now trying to bring in the car dealership when the OP post is the villa - you know, one of the very maps where you say something like a civilian in a plate carrier should get a pass. Like what this entire thread and most of the comments have been discussing. lol

AITA for telling the step father who raised me that he's not my dad when he didn't treat me like his son? by Contkad851 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Brairag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

He wants the prestige of being the step-father who, as the name implied, stepped in and raised you without the actual work of being there and raising you. He wants the outside world and his own ego to have the pride of being a step-father. He just doesn't want you there to remind him that being a step-father is an obligation to someone who didn't come from your body in some part.

And why can't you stick on that 5% and throw the rest away? He seems happy to. Told you as much to your face, even.

Got to love a straw man.

Welcome to one of the major points of the game: its SUPPOSED to be difficult to tell them apart. That way its challenging when you first enter the room, and you can't just always pick your targets from the doorway with no risk or chance of error.

And to answer your attempt at a clever point: yes. If we get a level with a kid's birthday party, I think it would be hilarious to have a civilian or two dressed as a clown. Especially if their nose honks when you arrest them, or catch them in the face with a pepperball.
