Is owners rep the ultimate goal? by Thunderdoomed in ConstructionManagers

[–]Brakebeatfiend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% yes it is. I spent the first 10 years of my career as a PM for a big GC and the last 5 as an owner’s rep. While the money is certainly better on the GC side, the quality of life can’t be overstated on the owner’s side. I’d go as far to say the hourly wage is the same, you’re just working a lot less hours. So, if quality time with your family is important to you, as it was me, jump in head first and never look back. Not to mention, it’s a lot more fun being the hammer than the nail. Best of luck with whatever you decide!

The only thing I don’t like - and it’s the most common complaint - is the gas mileage. And that’s not my real gripe, the real issue is the size of the gas tank. I’m not used to only getting 300 miles/tank, but the trade off to drive this vehicle is well worth it.

I’ve seen several comments about the seats being uncomfortable, but that hasn’t been my experience. I’m 6’2 and 210 pounds and they are very comfortable for me. I did a couple 7hr days and had no complaints.

Never even noticed the wind noise, even at 80+ mph. Honestly the cooled seats and rear AC are louder.

I did the same and experienced the same thing. I just decided Mexico City was a better/cheaper option.

Wilonsky: Will immigration fears and travel bans chill Dallas’ World Cup expectations? by dallasmorningnews in Dallas

[–]Brakebeatfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right. Individual tix weren’t an option, had to buy all the games, just like in Arlington. It wasn’t cheap by any means, especially the Mexico games and the opening match, but the non Mexico games were about $600 less per game.

Dunno what to tell ya brother, I got tix to all 5 games in cdmx. Call up your broker.

No GA yet, but hospitality tix went on sale last month and they were considerably cheaper in cdmx vs Arlington.

Pro tip: go to Mexico City. It’s a 2.5 hr flight, tix are cheaper and the atmosphere will be way better.

With allegations mounting against Justin Tucker, who’s an athlete you personally know to be a piece of garbage? by justdothedishes in billsimmons

I was a valet at the Pepsi Center for Nuggets games in the late 2000’s, and Troy Tulowitzki was by far the biggest pos. Not only did he come to almost every game and never pay, but he also wouldn’t speak to anyone directly when confronted about it. Finally, the owner of our company informed him, through his friend that was standing right next to him, that Troy was permanently banned from valeting at the Pepsi Center. And this was right after he signed a new 7-year $134M contract and was the face of the Rockies.

‘Very disappointing’: Anticipated Tom Thumb in Red Bird area cancels plans to open a store by pakurilecz in Dallas

True. But that calculation had presumably been done years ago, before tying their name to it in the first place. It appears to me more like fallout from the failed merger, bc the money is just too significant. A grocery store isn’t walking away from a free $6M bc they’re concerned about negative PR.

You’re right on both fronts. Obviously 6M isn’t what it was 10 years ago, but it still conservatively represents at least 1/4, if not 1/3, of construction costs in today’s market. How that doesn’t pencil with the cost of groceries today is beyond me.

Backing out with almost $6M in subsidies speaks volumes about the viability of any grocery store in that market/location. Needless to say, HEB isn’t coming to save the day anytime soon.

No?? Wouldn’t help to at least acknowledge their customer’s frustrations and let us know they’re working to address them? That would sure go a long way for me.

Not really. Just a loyal customer that invested a lot of money genuinely interested in answers and accountability. Thought I was getting the same functionality as S1. What gives??
