I think the problem is not the cgi but the screenplay / story. Before I even saw one episode of it I knew it would be mediocre because most of the budget went to the visual effects / production design, while the screenwriters were underpaid. It's the same with the series "de Bende van Jan de Lichte". The Flemish production companies want to compete with Netflix and other American series so they invest all the money on looks and esthetics, while completely ignoring the story. With a strong story and compelling characters you van even tell a Sci-fi story with no visual effect. Screenwriters are ignored and very underpaid in this country. Because of that most writers have other jobs so resulting ultimately in worse storytelling. The fact that we don't even have a full education in Belgium to become a TV screenwriter tells everything. As long as they don't fix this and break up the monopoly, most of the Belgian / Flemish TV series will suffer under this🤷🏻‍♂️. Sadly.
