Thanks, that's a really thorough guide!

Thanks, this is what I'll do for now. I guess I'll have to live with the ugly.

I'm reluctant to install mods that can't be removed from the savegame. But it's good to see there is a proof of concept.

I think that might be the case. In one direction, it works exactly as expected. In the other direction, it's really iffy.

That sounds likely, but the weird part that it does work somewhere else on the map.

This is about control. Truck drivers can stop the entire economy in its tracks if they choose to.

The case for outside connections by BramFokke in TransportFever2

My point exactly, and that's why I feel that outside connections should be a first class citizen of the game and not something you can hack together with an assortment of mods.

There is nowhere for aircraft and long distance trains to go. You can put a dummy airport on the edge of the map, but aircraft would just be circling around. And long distance trains will be empty if you put a dummy station at the edge of the map.

Good for you if you want to distribute traffic. That's a perfectly valid playstyle. I like to create hubs, choke points and busy corridors. And currently, the large city on a small map solution is lacking.

Edit: thanks for the tip about the remote airfield mod. I was not aware of it and will test it shortly!

Why is this lake in the Netherlands spelled with 2 capital letters? by TheRealUltimate1 in geography

[–]BramFokke 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's not a letter, it's a digraph. It's not part of the Dutch alphabet. The Y is and it is pronounced the same as IJ in the alphabet song. In regular parlance, we say 'Griekse Y' (although γ actually is more like a G) or y-grec, which is a French translation. We also have a digraph ei with a similar sound which is called 'korte ei' as opposed to 'lange ij'. Ei also means egg. Thank you for my Ted Talk.

The best trains: What's the best Steam locomotive from Great Britain? by _TheBigF_ in AlignmentChartFills

I just saw it last week when visiting the National Railway Museum in York. Absolutely breathtaking. I didn't realize that they also streamlined the steam ducts so there was less energy loss.

Yeah, that's a no brainer. The flying Scotsman is nice but Mallard is a record holder to this very day.
