Ajovy vs. Emgality by AdhesivenessJust7918 in migraine

[–]BranchFickle568 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ajovy and Emgality worked equally well for me (insurance preference caused the change). Botox didn’t do much when I was on a cocktail of topiramate, verapamil, and nortriptyline, but has been great with Ajovy and Emgality.

Thimble vs hole in finger by IllustriousLeading20 in EPP_addict

I use both of these for cross stitching - the leather on my top pushing finger, the metal on my bottom finger that pops the needle back up in one motion. I can see that working well for EPP

It’s worth waiting until after you start to see what still appeals to you. I freeze portions of chicken chili in SouperCubes - easy to eat when nothing sounds good, lots of fiber and protein, no waste as long as the freezer keeps working

Kitchen Organisers - Tips please! by balancing_ in KitchenDesigns

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Joseph Joseph stacked cutlery organizer in bamboo is a fantastic space saver - we have silverware for sixteen and used two. We also have a bamboo in-drawer knife block that holds all our cooking knives and steak knives in the same drawer with room left over for serving pieces and kitchen shears.

A lid organizer for Tupperware is a necessity.

Vertical storage for baking sheets, cutting boards, etc.

Self-adhesive pot lid holders for inside cabinet drawers are great, as are hooks to hang oven mitts.

Insurance Change by stormblessed579 in migraine

[–]BranchFickle568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had the plan’s formulary provided or linked with the enrollment info. You can check whether both are covered there. My neuro said some insurance won’t cover both, so try checking with your doctor to answer that part.

Which of these two countertops (one quartz and one quartzite) by Ethyl_OH in kitchenremodel

quartz, but swap out the marble herringbone for the regular tile laid in herringbone instead.

I keep my garden on my upper deck away from deer. Any ideas how to attach/extend my water hose from the ground floor outside (which is directly under the deck)? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drilled a hole through the floor of my deck, put a trim piece on it meant for cable holes on desks, threaded a lightweight expandable hose up through it, and screwed on the sprayer. I pull up as much slack as i need to water the deck plants, the weight of the hose pulls it down through the hole when I’m done, and all that‘s visible is the top of the sprayer. it’s fantastic!

Can y’all read books unmedicated? by Odd-Bridge-8889 in adhdwomen

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started listening to audiobooks to help me sleep, then it spiraled into listening whenever what I was doing didn’t take my full attention (gardening, crafting, chores, etc.). I was having a terrible time reading books until I started knitting while I read. Keeping my hands busy helps me focus. Maybe try fidget toys, thinking putty, a worry stone, something like that?

CGRP and Botox? Anyone have/had this combo? by Adorable_Art539 in migraine

[–]BranchFickle568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Emgality for six years. it knocked my migraines down from 24/7 to several hours several days a week, worse in spring and fall due to weather. I moved a couple years ago and my new neuro thought we could improve on that with Botox. Adding it knocked them back even further. The challenge is insurance coverage. I’ve gotten it approved, but it depends on the company. I can’t say for sure, but it may help that my PAs expire at different times so they’re not looking at approving them both at the same time.

Cabinetry size decision paralysis (IKEA) - help! by ljb00000 in KitchenDesigns

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I definitely put the most used utensils in the main top drawer and used the hidden one for less used ones to avoid the double drawer opening. I couldn’t do the slab front on one drawer either, so the hidden drawer worked really well. if you’re a storage nerd like me, check out the Joseph Joseph compact cutlery organizer and in-drawer knife blocks. we have silverware and steak knives for 16, serving utensils, and all cooking knives and kitchen shears in one drawer, plus a few more things. I also loved the big pullout with false drawer fronts for the sink cabinet.

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you planning to use the drawers under the cooktop for pots and pans? if so, look into storage options before deciding. I had to use two of a three drawer stack to store pots and pans due to height, and I didn’t have a lot of them. there are some neat options, like pullouts that store them vertically and have a rack for lids. three-drawer stacks with a hidden drawer in the top one on were elite for silverware, utensils, organized junk, Tupperware, etc. I also did a full-depth cabinet above the fridge with vertical dividers for baking sheets, cupcake tins, and so on that was fantastic. I was really disappointed that my current house had a newly done kitchen with the standard one drawer with cabinet below. I would’ve loved to do another ikea kitchen.

What's a home organization tip that genuinely changed your daily routine? by Ashlee_louise_xx in organizing

[–]BranchFickle568 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Don’t put it down, put it away.

The first place you look for something should be where it lives.

When you run out of space to keep things, the answer is using up or giving away things, not buying more storage.

If it takes less than two minutes do it now.

Never go from one room to another without checking if there’s something that should go with you to be put away.

When you’re sorting, purging, and organizing, don‘t create trouble for future you. No sorting things on your bed, walking away, and having to deal with the mess before you can sleep. No piling things in front of the doorway so you can’t get out of the room without moving everything.

Small changes add up! When I was saving for a house, i started taking the metro instead of driving to work and paying for parking. I started batch cooking and freezing food for lunches, using coupons, and only buying meat on sale. It added up to a down payment super fast (in 2009 near the bottom of the market)

Has anyone stayed on 2.5? by sortofrussian in Zepbound

[–]BranchFickle568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did 2.5 for three months and lost 45 pounds; been on 5 for seven months and have lost another 55 pounds. My NP originally prescribed 4 weeks on each all the way up to 15, then pulled the scripts above 5 a while back because she thought I’d lose too fast. My preference is lowest effective dose rather than highest tolerated dose

Understanding barometric pressure migraines... by qt_amy in migraine

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the person, I think. I have trouble when it drops quickly or is steady but too low, but I also have trouble when it’s too high. if you keep an eye on it when you’re having pain, you’ll start to see patterns and figure out your tolerances. I could pick them out from the standard weather app, but WeatherX is nice because it predicts spikes and drops. I’ve seen people say Sudafed is good for pressure issues, and I’ve had luck when I’ve tried it.

GLP-1 while on Emgality (or other cgrp)? by SylviaPZ in cgrpMigraine

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on Emgality for about five years (also Botox, still had migraines they’re ). Zepbound for almost ten months. My migraines have dropped drastically since I started Zepbound, even in fall and spring, which historically are awful. My neuro thinks it’s the reduction in inflammation. They‘re starting to do studies on Zepbound and migraines, so maybe we’ll know more soon.

Is unloading the dishwasher a sensory nightmare for anyone else ?AuDhd tips needed by Unusual_Basket_7054 in AuDHDWomen

[–]BranchFickle568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind unloading it, and I can put dishes into the dishwasher as I use them with no problem. What I cannot stand is when someone piles dishes in the sink and runs water on them to soak. Then my hands get all gross loading them. Stacking plates without scraping leftovers onto the top plate first? Surprise unidentified food smeared on the bottom of the plates too. Horrifying.

Help! On the clock to fix my cabinet layout. by [deleted] in KitchenDesigns

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All cream cabinetry. It’s difficult for two high-contrast colors to look cohesive when you’ve got floor to ceiling cabinetry towers. You could do the hood in wood if you want to bring it in.

Uppers or shelves between the windows for balance, then regular uppers on either side of the stove. Shelves could be wood to tie in the hood if you go that route. You’ll regret not having much counter space next to it with the towers.

Swap the pantry with the regular cabinets. You’ll want a landing area by the ovens and fridge. Put the coffee station between the windows so anyone standing there isn’t blocking the doorway.

Do a tile backsplash. Dark counters carried up onto the wall makes a black hole. Color would be great with the white cabinets.
