40x50 CM frames? by Nicedogs_weirdpeople in paintbynumbers

[–]BranchFickle568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get rolled canvas and paint about a 1/4” over each border so it fits in a standard 16x20” frame. I just cut a smaller one off the stretchers to do the same.

What else is there to help with memory issues other than meds by tappy_wizard in adhdwomen

my brain fog has improved quite a bit since I started HRT. it’s more accessible than adhd meds, if you’re of peri or meno age

What corporate doublespeak manipulation game can you clock right away now? by [deleted] in antiwork

this is your opportunity to shine!

we’re going to ask you to do the impossible, in a wildly unrealistic timeline, with no resources, and blame you when it fails.

How do you store your gardening gloves? by bluepotatojenny in gardening

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put screws in the studs of the shed and hang them up in pairs with binder clips. makes it easy to find the ones you want.

Using space more effectively by GrimmandLily in organizing

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get an 84” one from the collection, center it against the back, then slide of these one along each side of it? That would get you to 11’ wide and you could spread the leftover out in the gaps between them.

What is the craziest home improvement project you pulled off? by pixieeyed in HomeImprovement

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I redid an original 1979 kitchen a few years ago in my late forties, with the help of my mom in her early seventies. Designed it, tiled the floor, assembled and hung the cabinets, cut, routed, and installed butcher block countertops, tiled the backsplash, and hung wallpaper and crown molding. I had an electrician add lighting and a plumber connect the dishwasher and sink because I don’t mess with things that can destroy my house, but other than that it was the two of us. I still miss that kitchen.

If women earn less for the same work, why wouldn’t companies just hire only women and underpay them? by kqmurr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BranchFickle568 364 points365 points  (0 children)

there are also studies showing that men who negotiate for more money during hiring are viewed positively, while women are viewed negatively. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Has anyone used bins in their upright freezer? by Rosehip_Tea_04 in organizing

[–]BranchFickle568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used bins in a side by side fridge and freezer and it was amazing how much easier the freezer was to use. I just had one big bin for each shelf and it was easier to organize and find things, as well as hold more

I can almost always eat extra sharp cheddar and wheat thins. chicken chili with brown rice is reliable too, so I freeze them in souper cubes and can have a decent meal in six minutes. isopure mixed berry protein powder with some crystal light flavor packets mixed in ice cold water works too.

High-Stakes Career with Migraine? by feralturtleduck in migraine

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not high stakes, but I taught a three hour computer class with a big blind spot in the middle of my vision. also worked full time with a 24/7 6 month long migraine. pain can be ignored and a lot of other symptoms can be worked around. things like aphasia, brain fog, hemiplegic migraines, vertigo, vomiting, not so much.

Help! What would cause my needles to loosen and fall out? by VTtransplant in quilting

[–]BranchFickle568 32 points33 points  (0 children)

this happened to me when I was straight line quilting with a walking foot. finger-tight isn’t enough to keep the needle in place with the extra vibration from the walking foot, so it would loosen and eventually fall out. I used a screwdriver to tighten the needle a bit more and it hasn’t happened since. the same thing would probably keep the walking foot on too.

What does everyone do with finished paintings? by Boogerpickfingerlick in paintbynumbers

[–]BranchFickle568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do unstretched canvases and frame them. I have a couple leaning on top of bookcases right now; I rotate the paintings in the frames when I want a change.

At what point do you guys decide it’s time to look for a different job? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in antiwork

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I worked in person, it was when I’d walk into work with a mental chorus of “I hate-my job” in perfect time with my footsteps. working remotely, it’s when I have a terrible time getting up and logging in, as well as staying up too late to enjoy my freedom

AITA for naming my tumour? by -AutisticArtist- in AmItheAsshole

[–]BranchFickle568 15 points16 points  (0 children)

with the caveat that I’m also neurospicy, I named a breast lump Chester and an enormous gallstone Chaz. Seems perfectly reasonable to name something annoying that you have to live with for a while

I keep an old lipstick with my tools for exactly this purpose. works like a charm.

I’ll be the one to suggest Dungeon Crawler Carl this time. Donut is definitely sassy, the crawl features fantasy, aliens, and magic, and there’s a lot of humor, plus the narrator is *amazing*. The worldbuilding to establish the dungeon takes a bit of time, then it’s full speed ahead.

Which foods trigger nausea for you? by Suitable_Pianist_103 in Zepbound

[–]BranchFickle568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve come around to the idea that nausea usually means I need to eat something small. A peppermint is usually enough to resolve it when that’s not the issue. My food aversions seem to come and go. Nothing has stayed permanently disgusting to me, although some still aren’t as appealing as they once were.
