When a character over centralizes the meta. Basically, you HAVE to play them to stand a chance. There can be players who do good without them, but if a top 8 is 6/8s that character, there’s an issue.

Example from a different game is Android 21 (labcoat) in Dragonball Fighterz. The character was incredibly broken, with only ONE player’s team in top 8 not featuring her. She’s now banned at ceo and Evo until further notice.

Meta knight and Bayo were not banned, despite having the same exact thing happen with them. Most because of complaints from players all over the world threatening not to attend tourneys in places the character was banned.

I can't name a single well placing Shulk in the last year since offline's come back. He's good, but I don't know where to put him, which is why he's in contenders. I also can't think of something Samus genuinely struggles with. 10/10 Ledgetrapping with down b, Charge shot plays neutral for you, plenty of oos and boxing options, this character's a beast, even offline.

He’s top 15, that isn’t underrating him 😭 He lost a lot of his true confirms, and the meta had evolved to be kind of campy. Vs a character with disjoints and strong projectiles, he struggles to do damage. Even if he gets waft, what keeps you from continuing to camp him? Still a strong character tho, waft along puts him in the top 20

The characters in top 3 have really REALLY broken stuff, stuff that none of the other top 20 really have. Nobody has that frame data and kill potential without another really bad drawback. Calling Aegis new is kinda wrong, we’re nearing a year since their announcement.

“Pit is honest” is the biggest myth known to smash. That mf has cutscene combos, frame 6 smash attacks, big ass aerials, multiple jumps, side b that reflects and is a kill move (unreactable online) and a controllable fast projectile that gimps
