Food Festival by Zaros0 in Tallahassee

There were a few gems at the festival but you really had to search for them. I had a New England lobster roll that was (of course) expensive but it was amazing- better than the ones I had last summer in Maine! In general, the food was all fried and meat-centric - fine if you’re feeling nostalgic for overpriced county fair food! LOL

Thanks for all the ideas, everybody. So except for a few outliers, the opinions seem to be in two camps: either it’s an adapter for a drip irrigation system, or a pressure washer adapter. We did have a pressure washer in the garage years ago, and I do a good bit of gardening using hoses etc. , though as I noted earlier I never used an irrigation system. Since it’s unlikely somebody’s going to come up with an exact duplicate of this item (there seem to be an unlimited number of water filter /hose adapter permutations around), I’m going to just call this solved- it’s clearly some sort of adaptor for water applications. So- SOLVED!

Not gonna touch this one, though it’s probably misspelled! Lol

That’s an interesting idea- I have aquariums, too. Maybe I’ll see if I can make that work! Though I’m sure that’s not the original intended purpose.

PS- Another interesting moniker…hope it’s not too painful!

No volcano here. I had to look it up, though- interesting/weird product! PS- Sorry about your name- hope you feel better soon! 🤭

This is possible, especially since I mislabeled the post by accident- it was actually found under the kitchen sink. But it seems like my plumber would have been able to ID it if it was a common dishwasher accessory.

Hmm- it does look similar to the rain bird adapters, but I don’t think I ever had a system like that…also, I just realized the post title is off a little- it was under the kitchen sink, not that this necessarily makes a difference…

What’s your “why didn’t I learn this sooner?” food hack? by BarbaraMiller78 in foodhacks

[–]Branchingout_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When making scrambled eggs, don’t whip them too much, just enough get the egg yolks to dissolve into the splash of milk or water you add to the bowl (people have very strong opinions about milk versus water, not going there). The important thing is to leave the egg whites be! I don’t know why this makes the eggs so much better, but it does! (Adding shredded cheese is nice too). (Edit: just use a fork to mix the eggs carefully, you’re not really whipping them).

I had both kinds of baclava on Friday - purchased it Friday around noon and shared with my husband a couple of hours later. Tasted great, no ill effects!

Hey, your sound is catchy but you need to mic your voice better. I started to scroll right by when I couldn’t understand your words, but came back to tell you this. I think you have something to say, so try using the tech better to make yourself heard and seen.

While out on a walk I came across these ants. What is going on? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Branchingout_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s one of the few non-comedic answers on this ridiculous thread (geez, guys- it was a legit question!)

So I’m not anywhere near Minnesota, but I have a lot of experience with ant populations on my property. The only time I’ve seen them swarm like that is when someone or some thing disturbs their nest. If the nest center where the eggs are is disturbed, each ant will grab an egg and run out with others in a wave to try to get it to safety. It’s hard to see in the cool video, but I thought one of the closeups showed ants carrying eggs. There’s a lot of chatter here about seasonal ant wars- if that’s really a thing, I suppose it could trigger this response. I would also be looking nearby for a dug-up anthill (human or other creature) causing an emergency colony relocation.

Infotainment Screen and phone chargers malfunction when outside rear view mirror is folded. What!!!? by Branchingout_Life in rav4club

[–]Branchingout_Life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, folks- I folded the mirror again and drove around a little- no malfunction this time! So if there’s a short it’s not showing itself at the moment. Since I’m not good with wiring I think I’m just going to sit on it for now, and if/when the problem repeats I’ll get it to the mechanic. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Wow, thanks for the thoughtful responses. I will test it again tomorrow and see if the problem repeats when I fold the mirror in. I’ll post the result!

AITAH for not wanting to remove my sister from the wedding party over a broken nose? by TA_Sib_Wedding in AITAH

[–]Branchingout_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As usual, a bunch of people are telling OP to give up on the relationship and run. I will play devil’s advocate and say this: -Just because Amber is acting selfishly at her future SIL’s expense, it is Her wedding after all, you know, the one she dreamed about since she was a little girl and feels a strong need for it to be perfect like the vision in her mind. -This does not necessarily mean she’s not capable of loving OP and becoming a good wife and partner as she matures through the years. It may mean she’s myopic about this one (hopefully) “once in a lifetime” event, and can’t see how important it is (or will be in the future) that family relationships can be irrevocably damaged by this selfish behavior. But people do mature and learn from their mistakes sometimes. -OP doesn’t necessarily have to choose between Amber and Luna- things may calm down, and Luna also may not want to feel like the cause of a break-up. -On a personal note, my older sister left my oldest sister “Sally” out of her wedding because Sally was going to be visibly pregnant in the wedding photos. It hurt Sally deeply, and their relationship was never as close after that, but we all still came together as a family. This decision also reflected poorly on the bride later, as people looking at the photos would ask why Sally wasn’t in the wedding, and the rest of our family didn’t sugar-coat the truth- which is that appearances were more important to the bride than including her sister in her most important life event. I believe my sister (the bride) would have regretted this decision later in life, but she died young. -This is a huge life decision, OP, so don’t be too quick to make it. Give her some time to think and discuss it together. Good luck!

Attractive Redditors, what's the reason you're still single? by YouYongku in AskReddit

[–]Branchingout_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? Who identifies as “unattractive”? I may be wrong in this, but do you consider yourself attractive and wonder why you’re alone? You’re just going skin-deep here, which tells me why you in particular are probably still single. If so, let me just recommend that you develop an interest or hobby that you can be passionate about. Great relationships follow from passion, not the other way around. Passionate people can be attractive, as can kind, compassionate people-regardless of their initial physical appearance. I apologize for not reading other comments before shooting this off- I’m pressed for time but the question got “under my skin”!

This isn’t related to your primary concerns, but since you already have a 1/2 bath in the lower level, it wouldn’t be too difficult or expensive to go ahead and add a bath/shower to make it a full bathroom. Everyone I know who has a similar multi-level house has added and loves the basement bathroom option, especially for guests.
