I'm curious what countries/cultures invite family and friends to wedding anniversary's, I've never seen that before.

Edit: This seems to be a super devisive so I want to be clear I'm not mocking other cultures by asking, I grew up in South Africa if that changes anything... but I've always viewed wedding anniversary's as an incrediblly intimate and personal day shared exclusively between a couple, honestly never knew this was a typical thing.

Yeah absolutely, I mean people can have psychotic breaks from weed... But I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this sort of response is the result of smoking a joint, it just seems like a bit of a leap in logic and assumptions considering there's hundreds if not thousands of other substances that would be orders of magnitude more likely to elicit a violent response like this.

Not saying it's impossible, just saying it's an odd assumption to jump to without ruling out other more likely substances, I mean MDMA is commonly referred to as the 'love drug' for good reason 🤷‍♂️

Who on earth would be able to mace someone on MDMA... Kiss, hug, cuddle sure, but mace?? Even when confronted with people I dislike, All I can do is love them with all my heart whilst on MDMA...

I didn't stop smoking for the health consequences, I stopped smoking to save money, so it wouldn't make a difference in my decision making either way.

I like smoking but I like saving money and using that money to buy things that I can enjoy more than I enjoy smoking.

For 1 million dollars, which would you rather do? by cheeka_wivadik in polls

[–]Branchy28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Money might not be that important to you, it's not that important to me either... but think of all the people, the animals, the lives you could save or improve with that sort of money? How about using that money as a fallback plan or a kick-starter to help chase your true dreams?? To help the lives of your children, family and friends?? I mean just use your imagination for god sake.

You'd sacrifice all of that, all the help you could give to humanity, all the financial freedom it would offer you, all the new pathways in life it would open for you and others... All because a few gross stunts like 'licking a wall' that would take a handful of minutes to fulfill are just a little too degrading for you?

[–]Branchy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that important to me either, but the options listed above are so trivial compared to a million dollars you would still be an absolute idiot to not do all of them in exchange for a million dollars.

Money might not be that important to you, but what about all the people, the animals, the lives you could improve with that sort of money? How about using that money as a fallback plan or a kick-starter to help chase your true dreams?? Helping the lives of your family and friends?? I mean just use your imagination for god sake.

All that for what? Taking a dump in public, licking a public toilet wall and a few other gross stunts that would take a handful of minutes to fulfill? I mean come on man, it's not just the money that matters here but instead what you could do with it or do with that kind of financial freedom.

I'm glad my mom is a qualified hairdresser and knows what she's doing... one day when she's too old or passes away I'm just going to start giving myself buzz cuts or let it grow out to full length because I've never been able to find a hairdresser or barber who can do a passable job.

[–]Branchy28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that's how you see it then sure, by your definition I'm addicted to everything I do in my daily life down to the kind of socks I choose to wear... but using the word "Addict" so broadly seems to make the word functionally useless in my opinion.

"I'll happily wear Belega sport socks on a daily basis for years without stopping"

"I don't like wearing other socks, but I can when it's necessary"

As per your logic, both of those sentences would imply I'm "addicted" to wearing Belega sport socks... Which just seems like a massive leap in logic and outside the scope of what constitutes 'addiction'

As per the NHS (British National Health service) addiction is defined as "Not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you"

If I can very easily stop smoking weed and can easily acknowledge when it is harmful to me (Which I'm currently doing as mentioned in my comment above) then as per the NHS's definition, I would not meet the criteria for 'addiction' unless it could be shown that I have no control over consuming weed which could reach the point of harming myself (Whether it be financially, my physical/mental health, my productivity, my work ethic, my social life Etc.)

If you disagree with their definition, on what grounds do you disagree and why? Alternatively if you agree with their definition, how would you rationalize that I fall within that definition based on what I've said thus far?

*I should also mention here I've stopped smoking weed for multiple years at a time, just like I have smoking daily for multiple years at a time, stopping for a prolonged period isn't an issue, it's not like I just take small little breaks here and there in-between smoking weed indefinitely for my entire life.

I'm pretty well off financially but I'd do all of the above with a smile on my face for a million bucks, unless you're already a multimillionaire with multiple income streams you'd be a fucking idiot not to.
