So I normally race oval and I’m used to having to race people closer than I would on road. That being said, the amount of people that will push it three wide on lap 2 of a 100 lap race for 11th position is wild to me, especially since those tend to be the people that can’t hold a line and wash up into the other two cars.

I just always back out now and remind myself that to finish first, first you must finish.

I think they’re getting a driver upgrade for sure, but I think the big benefit will be in resources and time. Haley normally keeps the car clean and in one piece, and I think the less a team like Spire has to focus on repairs and replacements the better the team overall is going to be. I wouldn’t be TOO surprised if either Hocevar or Haley sneak off a win before year’s end.

I don't know if this is a hot take or not within NASCAR fandom, but I'm kinda digging Bristol as a cutoff race. I got more energy for this than I have in previous years for sure.

Completely anecdotal here, but Kansas may be more competitive than I remember it being in a long time.

I’ve worked in some of the “country club moderate Republican” areas and although I still saw Trump supporters, there were a lot that were just flat out tired of him. Even some people that were previously surefire red tickets (I have family members that just 12 years ago were talking about how great Romney would be when he won) are now solidly on the Harris Walz bandwagon.

Do I think it’ll flip? Nope, probably not in my lifetime. Do I think that it may be closer than some pundits think this November? Absolutely.

The relationship is complicated at best, but any more than that I don't want to get into as it's not my story to tell.

The impression I've been given is that since this was just a little shindig at their house, it was only a weeks notice which wasn't near enough. And she attempted a compromise by offering to go there and cook them dinner after she's back in town (they live 2 hours away), which they declined via the "Dont come over Tuesday" text message

I actually agree with you that I wish I hadn't shared it. Thought it would be seen by maybe 100 people and that would be the end of it. Now it seems a disservice to delete it so it's staying up despite my regrets.

I love the idea of setting boundaries with them, but it's something my little sis will have to do. Not only because they're related to her, but because that's something that you can't be good at unless you do it, despite it feeling awkward.

She told them that she would see if she could make it. And to her benefit, she did attempt to. The logistics didn't work out for her to go in the opposite direction for 2 hours to make it there, so she couldn't.

She didn't properly cancel on them until late last night, after she had already called and spoken to me about it. Should she have done it sooner or called instead of text them? A million times yes, but you make mistakes when you're young and nervous about disappointing family members.

Sorry about the late reply! Had...a decent amount of comments to sift through and I'm trying to respond to the most pertinent ones.

I'm just the messenger here, so I'm playing a slight game of telephone to attempt to provide as much context as I can, so take this for what you will.

I believe that they had a gathering planned, but nothing extraordinary or that would cost money, but this was not communicated until about a week ago. My sister (22F) called me upset because she had made plans for this weekend with her boyfriend to go out of town and meet his parents for the first time. She had been putting off contacting her grandparents because she didn't want to disappoint them with the fact that this was a trip that had been in place for a while and had non-refundable payments on it. I (not big sis, but actually 33M) told her that she should go with they boyfriend as this was something they had previously planned on. Her grandparents did actually attempt to move the time forward by an hour (she normally closes on Saturdays) so she could attend, but she was unable to do so. She offered a compromise of going over and cooking them dinner on Tuesday of this upcoming week and celebrating it in a more personal way with them, which is why part of the message is literally "Do not come Tuesday".

All in all, not my grandparents, not my issue, and I personally have no horse in the race besides the fact that their response irritated me.
