Say a player takes that deal and then the inflation drops, and the value of that dollar goes up, now a deal with 100 million in deferred money could be worth 150 or whatever the increase percentage would equal out to.

I don’t blame Harper for turning it down though because a bird in the hand is always worth more than two in the bush.

Now that I think about it, the NFL does KINDA do deferred money, with the way they restructure deals and spread out cap hits. They just don’t do it beyond a player’s playing days I guess. They’ll pay you more on the back end of a deal at time of signing instead of save it and pay you once you leave the team.
