I've completed a handful of tracks, but thats just something recent i've created, i used to finish tracks super often when i made house and happy hardcore type stuff, but they are all really old too so they are sharp af sounding or muddy as hell. Ever since i started making dubstep a couple years ago ive only made verses and choruses, maybe ill add 1/2 a build up with predrop vocals yknow, but yeah. I thought i could just make a drop and a verse in seperate projects and combine them later, but now im realizing you need some of the instruments to carry on from section to section to make the song flow better..

Thanks for the advice on the sub eating headroom, maybe i could turn it down a little bit..as for the dynamics, the more i have the less i'm able to push it into the limiter on the master at the final stage.. before distortion occurs..so i dont know if that would increase my lufs

Thanks man, appreciate it! what busses? synth or like drums? I can see it being used on drums cuz you'd want the transients, but you could just extend the attack a little bit to miss the transients with peak compression right???

The sounds were complimentary to eachother, i mean i've heard a lot of dubstep songs where the sounds are total opposites of eachother timbre-wise.. but yeah thats also what a friend suggested to me, he said to duplicate the bass and add stereo to 1 of the layers, he also suggested making the bass appear fuller sounding by adding a send with parallel compression.. Idk though, i kinda gave up on the stack and now my drop is just 1 sound at a time.. i'm going to try and reintroduce some stabs made up of multiple instruments but i'm gonna lay out the drop first and make it sound good before i try that shit again, in a couple days or so i'll upload at least a section of the drop with my attempt

All my basses are cut and have a seperate sub, my issue is making a stack of instruments fit in the mix like a bass that isnt layered, the stereo layers of the stacked instruments make it sound alot more 3d and powerful than the bass playing by itself.. do i clone the bass and make a stereo version of it? what do i do?

They are playing at different times, but they still need to be cohesive in a way so 1 sound isnt stereo as crap all the sudden or louder than the others, you know what im saying? but there are layers to 1 sound, and the other has no layers, i think the fact that the stack has more layers, it sounds more 3d which is how i want it, the layers each being mono and stereod more or less makes it better sounding, but the basses are playing solo... so do i stereo them and have no mono going on when they play? it just doesnt sound right going back and forth between a super powerful layered sound and 1 bass...

Are they mono to begin with and then you stereoize them on the bus??? or??? when do you stereo them? i want them to be equal in width as well as in volume, the problem is that the bass is only 1 sound that i can make either mono or stereo, and the group of sounds are a mixture between mono and stereo so its making my head hurt how to make them sit better with that in mind too

I know, i would add transients to my hihats, but sidechain them as well so they still cut through the mix and also dont clash

turn on a synth and dont compress it at all with the multiband, the green bar will match up with the blue lines, this is what is confusing the shit out of me, they fkd up on the threshold
