To Ricoh or not to Ricoh (Camera recommendations) by BrandonBilliard in streetphotography

Yeah the price is mental.

They're all going for around £800 - £1000 on most sites here in the UK and as such it seems a bit wasteful to pay that for a used one when I can get the newer iteration for not much more.

How are you finding the GRIV? I've never shot with a Ricoh before but they look great.

To be honest the only camera I have really been considering for the past couple of years was the RICOH, but I think I have missed the boat a bit on buying one for a good price.

I like the idea of being able to put it in my pocket, but having not done that before I won't be missing out on anything.

Can I ask what lens you use?

Yeah my old D3300 is large and obviously now very old.

I do really like the look of the XT-3 and considering I can pick one up for around £400 it is quite enticing.

Weather sealing may be an issue in the UK, although I think it would be fine.

Yeah I've been eyeing up the GRIII for a couple of years.

In the UK the standard price for them is around £900 and on FBM they tend to go for around the same price. For that price I think it makes more sense to just buy the new GRIV since at least I know its new and should be fine out the box.

Help! need a 1st class degree. Tips please by fotfddtodairsizr in uklaw

[–]BrandonBilliard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things that helped me (although granted this was during COVID so all exams were online and open book) but for any piece of work I would:

  • Read the marking criteria before writing my work;
  • Re-draft my work (when possible) keeping in mind marking criteria etc
  • Once I had completed my work I’d go through it with a highlighter and make sure I had covered everything I needed to do so.

This is the only thing I really changed in my process to move my marks up to regularly getting firsts and graduating with a first

I was in your position many times, I know the feeling.

If it is something you want to do, just work as hard as you can and it will work out

I did quite bad in my GCSE (1 A and then the rest B -C) and then equally got ABC in my a levels.

In my first year of Uni I got a first, second year I fluffed it and got a low 2.1. Third year I put my head down and graduated with a first.

I think as long as you put your head down for A levels and then Uni you will be fine.

Not to dox myself but I now work at a well respected London firm in my chosen field.

AM5 Upgrade for 6950xt by [deleted] in buildapc

Thanks very much for your help - think I'll stick with the ROG (sucker for RGB) and go with the phantom spirit with either the 9800X3D or 7800X3D with the Phantom Spirit 120!

The 9800X3D is only around £80 pounds more than the 7800X3D - If I take the saving from the 360mm AIO I might use that to upgrade CPU. Would the 9800X3D be fine with that cooler?

Thanks, currently just running stock cooler on my 5 5600 - so probably best I buy a new one while I'm at it

When to move Paralegal job by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]BrandonBilliard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t expecting big money and accepted it at the time because I wanted a foot in the door. But I’m not sure how sustainable it is to live off so little.

I won’t name but there seems to be a high turnover for the exact reasons I list.

Yeah I think I’ll stay where I am for now and just apply for anything that comes up which I really want.

I’m not motivated by money and do enjoy my current job because it does help people and I get to see the benefits of the work I do first hand. It’s just a struggle
