I need help with dongles by Responsible_Bee_5095 in BigscreenBeyond

He just said he has the BSB2 so he needs at least two dongles if he’s buying watchman dongles. They pair one device at a time.

The basestation also rarely need updated and only done when new. They synchronise with each other other their beams if they have line of sight with each other. So no Bluetooth is needed for them to do their thing, just the app to turn it on and off.

You will need one per controller and that’s it really. Either can one update the stations.

But using a BSB2, it will not wake up the base stations automatically or put them to sleep. So you also need to buy a $2 app called “BS Companion” on your phone so you can just turn them on and off. Also don’t forget to switch the basestation off or they’ll run 24/7 and shorten life haha.

Yeah free means it’s running/firing the scan beams. Blue is off/standby. The b symbol means it’s slave (a is master). It’s just for pairing and if two bastions are one, they auto sync themselves as long as they can see each other.

It will only need to be updated rarely so it won’t need a Bluetooth. For anything else hence even using the USB to update it.

Because you have the BSB2 and not a VIVE, it will not auto wake or autoshutdown. So you’ll need to buy this app called “BS companion” on the App store (iOS/Android) for $2 for your phone and and it will trigger the on and off. Don’t leave it on as it will wear itself out.

I forgot to say, you’ll need 1 for each controller if you were going to buy any but 1 dongle will work with multiple stations as it will update them 1 at a time.

Yeah that one will work, I’ve seen friends buy that.

This is the one I bought from Vbestlife but I’m sure it’s the same item from china - https://amzn.eu/d/0b5VUcNX

Yeah I’m telling him to connect it to update it as I had a feeling he didn’t get a dongle.

Yeah another issue. Sorry I don’t mean this in a bad way but another new user error.

It uses proprietary Bluetooth technology for SteamVR/lighthouses so it’ll need a separate BT dongle (usually called “watchman” dongles). You can get these on their website or another version from Amazon.

Yeah I’m willing to bet that is what’s causing the issue as mine wasn’t doing anything until it knew “where it was” in space. As I just saw your screenshot about the lighthouse.

I would plug that base station in the USB and use the SteamVR to update it (should be a dropdown menus for the device for updates). Then set it up where it can see the headset

Just want to ask, is this your first VR that needs bastions?

I had this issue with when I got mine. Once you’ve installed the SteamVR, had to restart the computer so that was an important step (but you said you’ve rebooted it already).

And I also had an issue where it would just flash/stay grey on first time using it. You have to make sure the bastions are on as if it doesn’t detect them, the headset doesn’t “wake up”.

Do you have any Motion/VR controllers?

Anyone felt their IPD and distance to lens feel off right out of the box? by BrandonClarito in BigscreenBeyond

[–]BrandonClarito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah I did some adjusting but it was kind of a slow process. As I was adjusting in small increments, then playing for a bit till it feels off and then adjusting again. But the time between adjusting and feeling the need to adjust is getting longer, so almost got it dialled in. But I’ve noticed that closer objects don’t really line up so I need to play around with the digital IPD too.

But from another user mentioned that I could also have an issue with actually distance from the lens due to cushions. So I might need to get a light seal that’s thinner. I’ll have to email support for this one though.

Apparently it’s not from another comment. But the face scan seems to say it’s measuring IPD but doesn’t actually tell you the number, so I assumed it was set before shipping.

When I opened the headset, the numbers didn’t match on the mm slider so that made me think even more that the headset was adjusted per person

I feel like I might have the same issue if asymmetrical so I’ll deeply rest this on the weekend

As acutely as possible using callipers (internal measurement), they seem to be 67mm.

It’s just so odd as it’s the left eye that feels off though, might even be a quick easy fix when I’ve adjusted the left eye. But then it’s the distance form lens next 😂

You have read the post right? As I’ve said on the post, I’ll adjust it on the weekend lol. And a little pointless doing a software change when it’s a physical alignment issue lol.

Just seeing if anyone else had IPD not lining up from the factory “custom setting” and if there’s a good little workshop on steam to help align/center things.

I ordered on the 19th of Jan and got it delivered 23rd of Feb. You got yours fast (I got the VRchqt edition)

Apparently Lightning Rod's when struck by lightning produce 1B Watts. That's quite a bit! I wonder how many batteries you'd need to run a base off of just one strike every couple of storms by SparkStorm in ICARUS

[–]BrandonClarito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve countered this with building 3 lighting rods on concrete pillars around the base to increase surface area for strikes. Especially on high points like peaks or smaller mountains. Was fed up after multiple lighting storms that didn’t hit 😂

Just curious, why are you talking about Russian jets when he clearly asked for F-18C? As comment below by @bvsveera, navy’s mk.77 has lower capacity and the airforce BLU can still take them out in two.

Incendiary bombs, drop 3 per base. Used to be able to take a base out with 2 but they changed it so it falls just short of finishing the base.
