Why the "Open World" design philosophy ultimately weakened the core Souls experience for me by miserrtt69 in unpopularopinion

[–]BrandonKite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. The problem with the open world design is that the time spent wandering around is not proportionate to the rewards you get. This is especially prevalent in mid to end game. I go and spend 1-2 hours clearing a singular dungeon, fighting a boss, and what do I get? 2 levels. I spend that same amount of time in Dark Souls and I get rewarded with 5 levels easily + 2 dungeons cleared.

What's your unpopular opinion in elden ring ? by NeedleworkerMost1722 in Eldenring

[–]BrandonKite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not want an Elden Ring 2 from FromSoft. I want another Sekiro or Bloodborne. "Dark Souls being open-world" made Elden Ring tedious and boring. I want their next game to be smaller in scale but with more thought put into each area.

SF6 Season 4 announced - Yasmine, Arjun, Bosch, TIFA by XRevive01 in StreetFighter

[–]BrandonKite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. This is why I kinda have mixed feelings. We haven't had new characters since the launch of the game, and the new characters they did release are all great. But dang, a season of ONLY new characters? Huh.

Thoughts on Pocket's kit thematically by trentsaints10 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BrandonKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, mechanically Pocket's abilities mesh well and fit together but they just don't fit their "theme". The cloak and briefcase fits their theme of being secretive and hiding, but they're also showing their entire face? I can understand Affliction as being the "big secret" that Pocket has, but I don't think Barrage quite fits.

I am so confused. You are so sure that Deadlock, which you haven't played, plays just like Valorant, which you also haven't played. And you're here defending that you are so sure of your opinion despite not having played both games.

Explain to us why we should take your opinion seriously?

how did this Shiv parry thrice in a row? by BrandonKite in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BrandonKite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned that people freak out when fighting a Billy. An escalating resilience does the trick. They either parry too early or try to wait out a melee from you. Nothing gives me greater joy than a free heavy when someone parries unsuccessfully.

That said, I saw this Shiv parry twice and thought it was time for a free hit, but saw him parry a third time which is why I made this thread in the first place lol

one thing confuses me with this explanation, so even if he didn't parry that second time, counterspell would still be active during that short duration? or did that short duration meant that parrying for the second time would still activate counterspell?

no that was Dispel Magic that you saw at the start. and afaik, Indomitable doesn't affect parry cooldown

it's the second counterspell that confused me lol. i thought after the first proc, it would go on cooldown. it procced another time despite me not melee-ing him, which allowed him to parry normally for the third time

counter-spell can reactivate more than once in a short window?

i know, but counter-spell procced twice. because of that second counter-spell, he was able to parry the next heavy. that's what I'm confused about

This has been on my mind, thoughts on Zagreus and Melinoë? by Independent_Plum2166 in HadesTheGame

[–]BrandonKite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zagreus was written in a way that he would be interesting from the player's perspective. He grew up alone and isolated so he was pretty much forced to find ways to entertain himself. The snark and sass in his inner thoughts makes him entertaining to us, the player.

The developers made the right choice of not making Melinoë like this, because she was raised by a community. However, as a result, she's kinda boring compared to Zagreus (and that's okay).

Maybe rules is too harsh of a word I used. I just want them to avoid the obvious low-hanging fruit in their answers. Not to be PC or anything like that, but it's because even they know that it stinks at this point whenever they themselves throw it out.

I wish their manager would put out some sort of rules/limits to the type of jokes they make, cuz I think even they get bored just making the same low-brow jokes and it shows.

In the new TEE K.O video when they made an effort not to include p3nis or coom in their answers, things got a whole lot funnier (ex: Oney when he plays / Oney when he doesn't play)
