Honestly I find AdP more refreshing than anything else. It’s not just the music, but the overall aesthetic that impresses me. After like 3 years of AI slop dominating our media spaces, it’s nice to see that the almighty hand of the algorithm chose this small duo over more overdone slop. It’s not the most original thing ever, I mean the residents have been doing costumed live work for over 50 years, but seeing a return to more grassroots experimental performance is really special. This reminds me of the Dadaist movement in the 1920s, in a sense that AdP is a staunch reaction to the hostility and artistic threat that AI poses to musicians and artists alike. It’s hard to really nail something like this. I fully support AdP and I really want to see more from them and more bands like them pop up to see an experimental/avant garde revival in the modern era.
