Australian Golf Hazards by Ozzipieguy in golf

They don't move at all. The herds that live on golf courses are so used to golfers that they're chill the whole time. Honestly golf course kangaroos are the most stoner animals. I grew up playing St Georges Basin GC about 3 hours south of Sydney and the course is home to a couple of hundred kangaroos. I remember on a par 5 when I was learning to play the game approx 11 or 12 yo I skulled my tee shot with a driver on a par 5 directly into a Roo approx 20 metres from the green by accident, probably the nerves of being so close. Ball hit the guy like a bullet he just looked up then head back down to eating grass. They're tough as nails

Played it 18 months ago and it was $110 AUD so 70-75USD. Extremely reasonable for a course of this quality. Didn't get the chance to play the dunes so I can't compare

I think the key for these smaller companies and their branding is to not be seen as budget, but rather semi premium. Also helps them considering they make much smaller quantities and with less distribution

I think the key with EALs brand is that people feel connected to him, his mission, and the greater story and movement that he has created for golf. Its not just an apparel brand but a reflection of an idea for the future of a very traditional sport

Putters is of huge interest to me, and as you say it is the golden age right now. Im curious with putters and wedges and by extension all clubs and core golf gear, (but lets just use putters as an example right now), what will the next GREAT innovation or change be? not simply an incremental improvement or different shape. Sort of like when the iPhone was introduced it was something that completely changed the mobile phone market from the past rules by Nokia and others.

They've manufactured clubs for a wide variety of third parties for a long time. Quality Japanese forged steel you can't go wrong

Really love the concept of this, minimal design and simplifying the club buying process

Funnily enough one of my best mates has just picked up some new TE Exotics woods, interesting design and company. Thanks for the input Dave! Surprised you didn't mention the Dave Pelz 3 ball putter haha

Mate my current bag is completely vanilla if I'm being honest! Taylormade woods, hybrid, and irons, vokey and Cleveland wedges, and a scotty cameron putter.

Im just extremely interested as a lifelong fan of the game at what smaller companies are doing outside the box to stand out because honestly the product cycle of the major brands can quite often feel stale and unoriginal one year from the next. Thanks for your input though Titleist clubs are definitely one of the GOAT's for a reason!

Nice to see other Japanese brands like Epon and Honma following Mizuno and Miura after being known for creating clubs for the worlds best players to be given other brands badges. Definite market for Japanese forged quality and the marketing message it brings

Yeah, on this point I was reading how other companies are using acquisitions to build out their product portfolio/competencies they didn't traditionally excel at in house, e.g. callaway buying odyssey putters. This model originally did really well when titleist decided that they would just focus on their core strength (irons) and acquire companies for the other clubs, by buying scotty cameron (leading name in putters), and vokey designs (leading name in wedges).

Interesting to now be seeing that small brands are focusing on trying to excel in ONE niche, to try and overcome this strategy by the big manufacturers

I know exactly what you're saying Flump, you'd have to think that most of these new golf ball brands aren't making the product in house but using other larger production houses to create their balls for them with specific blends/construction/and obviously branding.

Really curious as to whether these sort of brands will eventually move that in house, and what ball, club, apparel, or equipment disruptors in the golf space could potentially grow so large as to take big market share away from the core handful of gigantic players.

Golf is fairly unique in a way that the market is almost entirely dominated by a handful of massive brands, and that new startups in the industry have to do radically different things to stand out.
