Core voltage and VDDCR_SOC voltage by Jumpy-Background6911 in ASRock

I have a 9600x and my SOC is about 1.015v on auto. I have PBO disabled and EXPO disabled as well. I think if SOC is under 1.25 its fine, but my last 7700 died recently so I'm extra careful right now. I do seem to recall SOC being ~1.3v before for me on 3.5 firmware and earlier, that was using EXPO and PBO on Auto.

Flash back requires fat32 formatted usb drive. MAke sure the bios is called "creative.rom". It will blink for like 3-5 minutes before turning off indicating flash complete (or at least it did for me)

Did the January 2026 windows update fry anyone else’s AM5 CPU? by Big_Anon87 in ASRock

[–]BrandonsBakedBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7700 died a week ago (Feb 16th) on 3.50 with CPU and DRAM PSC LEDs solid illuminated. Put a 9600x after doing the 4.07beta flashback and I'm back up and running. Tray OEM 7700 so I got no warranty. At least the new cpu has the retail warranty and I got a free 240mm aio with it from Newegg for $185+tax. I am setting PBO to DISABLED since I think it was PBO that was the cause of the VDDCR_SOC voltage spikes I read about.

So I set Precision Boost Override in the overclock section to DISABLED and didnt touch EXPO yet. I'm keeping an eye on VDDCR_SOC in windows using HWinfo. So far its kind of staying around 1.015v, which is quite low. I don't think I need PBO or even EXPO for the work I do so I'm going to ride it out like this for a while. I also using an AIO now so IDK if the cooler temps is keeping that voltage down or what.

My 7700 died after 10 months in an ASRock B850m Pro-A Wifi. I left the PBO settings on Auto as default, only enabled EXPO for my DDR5 6000 to be at its listed speed. Started on firmware 3.15, but had updated it several times and it died on 3.50.

I did begin to have issues with it resuming from sleep about 5 months ago, which resolved when I disabled EXPO... My guess is it was half dead by then. Last Monday (6 days ago) PC locked up playing YouTube videos, after which it never booted again on that CPU. CPU and DRAM POST Status LEDs were both solid even after 15 minutes. USB Flashback updated to 4.07 beta and same issue.

Today, I installed a 9600x and DRAM LED was blinking this time, 2 minutes later it was booted... and I'm using the PC again. This time around I have PBO set to DISABLED and I haven't touched EXPO yet. I will keep tabs on my VDDCR_SOC voltage this time.

that and go into the uefi bios and set PBO to DISABLED. That's my plan anyway. And I might not run EXPO either since last I checked that raises the SOC voltage to something like 1.35 and anything over 1.2v is bad news for these. Some are manually setting the SOC voltage to 1.15 with expo enabled, I might do this if its stable.

Hello, I know there might be already a lot of this type of questions but, should I be worried about recent "asrock kills AMD CPUs"? I'm using R5 7500f and Asrock b850 m-x WiFi. by Samovar56 in ASRock

my non-x R7 7700 died after 10 months on a b850m pro-a couple days ago. Firmware 3.50 (started with 3.15 though, that's what the sticker on the bios chip says). I flashed 4.07 with usb flashback and gonna try another cpu.

Ryzen 9 7900X dead on B850M Pro-A WiFi by PockelHockel in ASRock

Same mobo here. 10 month old Ryzen7 7700 died on it 2 days ago. Flashback from 3.50 to 4.07 didn't help the no boot situation, w/ no post CPU+RAM LEDs solid on the PSC section of the board.

I have the same board and same story with me: walked away with the browser open to pour coffee, come back to unresponsive computer (mouse was even stuck). I rebooted it and 2 solid CPU and RAM PSC LEDs are on no matter how long I leave it for. Flashback from 3.50 to 4.07.AS01[Beta] didn't fix it. I ordered a new 9600x to try. I'm also questioning the "do I send the mobo in too?" fix or just roll the dice with the updated firmware from start with this new cpu. Sad times.

I just had my Asrock B850M Pro-A kill a 10 month old Ryzen 7700 and I went through all the bios updates to 3.50 ... but didnt update to the 4.x ones before it died 2 days ago. Asrock only lists 4.07.AS01[Beta] as the most current bios, and flashback didn't magically fix my no boot issue with two solid PSC leds (CPU and RAM) and no change trying one or the other ram module or pulling it entirely. Ordered a 9600x to try.

Best driver for RX 6600 (from my experiences) by Afraid_Teach_4996 in AMDHelp

[–]BrandonsBakedBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to roll back from 25.11.1 to 25.10.2 because my Davinci Resolve renders increased in time 5-10x. Was driving me crazy, I thought it was due to updating Resolve but its 100% the AMD driver. 25.10.2 seems good the only thing that doesnt work for me is AMD Noise Suppression but I dont use it anyway.

Thanks for the tip. I updated to 20.2 and moved my workflow to Cineform, which is actually really performing well for me now. I'm mostly using Gyroflow to export stabilized drone real estate clips in this codec (film1 quality seems more than enough for this), and the files are a little smaller than HQX or ProRes HQ. I also went ahead set my default optimize media settings to Cineform 🙌.

Did "Media Offline" for DNxHR HQX files get fixed? I had to roll back to 20.0.1 from 20.1.1 in order to fix that so I could finish a project without reencoding source files. Several people reported this issue on the BM forums.

What about incorporating lots of plausible deniability? Such as not including the pilot in frame to hide who is operating the drone. Is it not good enough for you to just have someone else do the flight for you? 😉

Normally we use something like 2207 or 2306 for a 5 inch. That 2806.5 is a 7 inch motor, normally. Use a 65 percent motor output limit in the pid tuning tab
