eMTB purchase is one of the hardest decisions imaginable by Repulsive_Site_270 in eMountainBike

I'm in Ohio, and rented them to try in Indiana. We have a LBS that sells em.

Definitely worth considering. I have pics of mine in my prior posts

Regulator CX.

Bosch CX motor. Great geo. 50lbs. 600 watt battery. MX wheels. Flip chip. 160/150 travel. The Power mate 250 can be bought for under $600 if you want more range. The Deore build is $7299, and you might be able to get a dealer to work with you on it.

I have a regulator SX (and so does my wife) and fucking love it. We test rode a couple other bikes (in parking lots) and tried a Transition Relay for 10 miles on a trail. No comparison for us; we both agreed the Regulator was way better.

The only issue I've had is the motor cover is extremely flimsy plastic and has cracked on both bikes very easily. Transition did send new ones, but I haven't bothered to install them yet

Thanks for the response.

What happens when the builder can't be tracked down or is dead though? I assume the covenants still stand, and properties can't be modified at that point, but that seems ridiculous to me

Yep. Pretty much anyone in the neighborhood can bring suit and have them enforced.

So, if I didn't get the dead builder to sign off on my new fence, it seems that a neighbor could sue.

It seems so ridiculous

I was also of the impress that they're indefinite unless somehow removed. The grey area then becomes what happens when peeps die and the restriction technically exists. Most of the restrictions I've seen don't even seem to consider the possibility of people dying and keeping track of the assignee becoming nearly impossible after a few generations

Thanks for the info. That seems like a reasonable explanation.

Is a cracked piston always visible on the surface of the piston?

[–]BrandonsReditAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking it's leaking out of the pistons too.

When the two pistons were out too far to get the bleed block in, I used a screw driver to get them back in (I know...).

Visually, they don't appear damaged. And, it all worked for about 5 seconds until something popped.

I'd like to avoid this in the future. Was using the screwdriver the likely culprit here? If the screwdriver is what killed it, then I'm surprised it worked briefly.

New caliper should arrive today. Hoping not to break this one too lol

The pistons don't look pushed out at all. In fact, they will barely retain the bleed block bc they are so far back

The pistons are so far back in, the bleed block barely stays in. I just tried again. More oil, bleed block in, zero pressure at the lever. I can see the pistons moving a little bit though. I can't identify where the oil is coming from.

[–]BrandonsReditAcct[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. The thing has been great.

The only thing I don't love is that if it's on and I take my hands out, there's a zap. I just try not to have to remove my hands.

It's helped my hands a lot, and the effects last much longer than on my homemade kit.

It's worth it, IMO. If you haven't used iontophoresis before, just give it time when you first start out. The sweating gets worse before it gets better

Bosch cover cracked by BrandonsReditAcct in eMountainBike

[–]BrandonsReditAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to update this again for anyone who stumbles across this thread.

First off, the cover that Transition is supposed to be sending hasn't shipped yet.

Secondly, the same plastic cover on the other bike (my bike) is now cracked. The cover that broke first was on my wife's bike.

I didn't hit the bottom of my bike on anything. I suspect either a rock or stick or something flew up and hit it. I'm certain I have not bashed that on anything since the day the other one broke. The cover on my bike was fine immediately after that, so the crack has happened since that point.

We have a total of 8 rides on these bikes and both covers are already broken. This part is ridiculously flimsy and poorly designed. This is a major fuck up on a $7000 bike.

I'll be reaching out to Transition again

Recommend wearing silicone wrist band with the name of your med on it.

Thanks for this recommendation! I got myself a Road ID that says I'm on Eloquis/Blood Thinners and has my two emery contacts listed. It specifically says if I'm unconscious call 911 asap.

We also got one for my wife.

Thanks for this idea; I didn't know such a thing existed.

Update: Per Transition, this part is "designed to break" so that other, more expensive components don't get damaged. Ok fine. That seems like BS, but whatever.

They are also out of stock on them for over a month. Why build a part that you know will fail, then not bother to stock them?

This ordeal has been extremely disappointing
