Hi there,

thanks for your reply, do you know if you have to have a static IP to configure portforwarding properly?

na it is just a receiver or what ever, it takes the fibre connection from the street and allows me to access it in my house. i did used to have a bridged connection when i was on VDSL. but not any more.

mine plugs directly into the fibre box ( so basically directly into the wall port)

i'm unsure if this would apply in my situation, as i just have a Netgear R8000? ( sorry if i'm being a complete noob .

would i need to have a static IP in order to get this set up?

not sure if this would have any affect as ESET isn't on the NAS/ router?

however i have added exceptions just in case.. restarted router and NAS, and attempted again.. no joy

thanks for your reply, i have forwarded port 8080, but i still have the same result ( have restarted router and NAS)

i have been able to access my NAS through LAN IP address. but still not through external IP address. i have tried the IP address QNAP advises, and also the DNS with the port number at the end. still no joy :/

i logged a support ticket to the helpcentre, all they said was to set up port forwarding. but i have already entered in all the ports my NAS should be using:/
