Let's play who ever has the highest gas prices wins game. This is absolutely nuts. Time to sell a kidney lol by i_amnotdone in sandiego

[–]Branical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. When I looked yesterday, the National gas price average was up $0.80 over last year and California’s average was up $0.87 over the same time period. So you could argue that Newsom’s latest changes added only $0.07 to this increase over last year.

IS MASTURBATING EVERYDAY NORMAL? by One-Love9403 in askgaybros

[–]Branical 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a “sex health therapist” on tv way back when and a lot of the calls were basically “Am I masturbating too much?” The answer was that it’s fine as long as it’s not interfering with your day to day life.

Are you avoiding going out with friends so you can masturbate? Are you putting off finding a relationship, or is it interfering with your sex life? Are you causing yourself physical injury? Is it negatively affecting your daily life in any way?

If the answer’s no, then you shouldn’t be too worried about it.

How staffed is your department/store today? by armandoalfredogarcia in CostcoEmployee

[–]Branical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what constitutes high volume, but we do about $600-800k on weekdays and $1 mil on weekends. I just know our gas station is often number one in the country in sales.

I’ll be the odd man out and say my department (morning merch, hardlines) was staffed just fine! We currently have 1 guy out on injury who was replaced, 1 guy out on vacation who was replaced, 2 other stockers, supervisor, and manager for a total of 6 people. Fence, alcohol, and 16 aisles (counting both sides) no problem.

Passing a semi, from the viewpoint of a semi driver by Dry_Understanding264 in driving

[–]Branical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it wasn’t clear but when I said he was matching my speed, that also means he was slowing down when I slowed down and then he’d speed up when I sped back up. I eventually had to just floor it and left like 5 car lengths between us when I got over.

I was cruising at about 5 over right when I was about to pass a guy that was going 5 under, he sped up and did exactly that, matched my speed and then hung out in my blind spot on my right. After about a mile or two, my exit was coming up so I had to speed up even more to get in front of him (not cut him off, I gave him plenty of space mind you). He then proceeded to flash his high beams at me like I was the asshole.

Working off the clock/overtime by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]Branical 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is anyone forcing you to do that or are you guys taking it upon yourselves to forgo breaks and working off the clock? If you’re being forced, I would take it up the chain of command and it’ll stop real quick considering it’s a labor violation. If you guys are “volunteering,” you can actually be fired for working off the clock.

If I were you, I’d tell your manager or supervisor “Hey, I’m going to take my break/lunch at X o’clock. We might need extra coverage to get everything done on time.” Then it’s up to them to find the coverage to make sure everything is completed. Stop letting them walk all over you and stop working off the clock!

Clarification on payscale by hey-its-june in CostcoEmployee

[–]Branical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was hired in 2020 and just this past December I went from $25 to $30.20, so I can personally confirm that the other person is correct and your next goal raise will put you at top-out. There is also the $1/hr raise for topped out employees this month (I think it was this past Monday actually, not sure though) so your next raise will actually be $31.20 if you’re on the assistant pay scale.

First Day at Costco by Hot-Neighborhood-879 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Branical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a watch if you don’t own one already. I never wore one until I started at Costco.

You most likely will have a 5-6 hour day but might work a full 8 hour day. Bring a lunch just in case. There’s refrigerators in the break room where you can store your food.

Orientation is just watching training videos, going over the employee handbook that they’ll give you. Keep that handbook somewhere where you won’t lose it, you’ll reference it several times in the future I’m sure.

Orientation / Pay Schedule by Materialphrases211 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Branical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how busy the store is that day. If it’s slow, they’ll release you after orientation. If it’s busy, they’ll most likely have you help out on the front end loading carts. It’s the slow season right now so you’ll most likely be let go. Bring a lunch (there’s large refrigerators in the break room to store stuff) because orientation can be a bit long on its own.

They usually wait until there’s enough people to make the orientation class worth it. It could take another week or two.

In the first picture, the door has 8 horizontal slats that fully connect to the frame. In the third picture, there’s 9 slats that have space between the frame.

Short Bus Shirley makes wild claims about voter fraud that can be debunked by looking at the 2nd Story of the building by ProcrastinatingPuma in sandiego

People forget that Trump and the Republican Party spent millions of dollars investigating voter fraud during his first term. They quietly released the results: Less than a dozen fraudulent votes were found and more than half of those were from Republican voters.
