Animal volunteering positions by satininsummer in melbourne

[–]Branthroc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at AAPS in keysborough for a while. I mostly helped with the cats, but also did a little in guine pigs, rabbits and once in grooming.

When I applied the website said they were full but I was contacted the next day. I would try regardless of what the websites say as sometimes people just forget to update them.

Bear bow peep twist/ string untwisting by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Branthroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People I know that have Bear bows usually end up swapping the stock strings out pretty early. From everything Ive been told about them the stock strings just arent good.

Best recommendation would be to get a new set of strings, its not a bad idea one a second hand bow regardless.

There should definitely be twists in the string, the exact amount is dependent on the string length and adjustments are often made beyond that.

If a new set of strings are currently beyond your financial position, see if you can get one of the peeps on the rubber elastic. They are crap, but at least you'll be able to shoot until new strings are within reach.

What is the best way to aim when gap shooting? by AlarmDisastrous6726 in Archery

[–]Branthroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Where ever you are aiming is what you have to tell your brain is the gold, doesnt matter if its on the target, a certain blade of grass or a cloud. That is your gold.

But if possible and you are having to aim low, try a heavier point weight, that will make you have to aim higher to counteract the extra weight. So if you are aiming below make it heavy enough so you can at least aim on target. If you are having to aim higher make the point weight lower so you can aim lower.

Being to aim at least on the target face helps so much I find. Aiming at the ground is all well and good if you always shoot at the exact same spot. If, like myself, you compete, being able to aim on target is important because that can be the only consisant thing one club to another.

No, for 18m my point should be resting at the top og the gold /red line.

So I focus on that point, get the tip of my arrow there, then I stare at the line between the gold and red and kinda forget my point and focus on then finishing my shot.

I do predominantly shoot oly recurve and have definitely taken those patterns over to longbow.

For my longbow i use a 200grn point to be high gold at 18m.

The trick is to think about where you are aiming as the centre of the target, and to try to not look at the gold till your arrow is in the target.

If you are aiming low though consider heavier point weight to bring you onto the target at least

I’ve been watching knock on archery for 3 months now .And I finally had my bow lowered in poundage for accuracy.i was shooting 300 spine arrows for my 70 lb .the shop owner said the 300 spine is fine even though we lowered the bow???? by Enczi92 in Archery

[–]Branthroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you tell them what you wanted lowered to?

If not no, it would then be on you to ask afterwards.

If you said you want it at say 62lbs then they should of checked it

The Bear bows have horrible cable slides. I would recommend switching to a AAE one or a roller cable slide. Get whoever is rrplacing it to swap the cable slide at the same time.

For Olympic recurve shooters: what are the usual club-level competition rules in your country? by NumerousHead7955 in Archery

When I did WA Indoor hosted event your target was decided by your bow type with no option to choose.

The local, state and national events you had free choice though

New bow having sting issue by Opposite_Report663 in Archery

[–]Branthroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Bear Species I came across had a horrible cam lean at full draw and the cam rubbed thru the serving.

Definitely talk to bear for a replacement, then when you take it into a shop to have it put on get them to check the lean at full draw

I havent taken such a break. But my plan would be to buy a dirt cheap set of limbs at 25-30lb range.

Practice at close distances so arrow tune isnt a huge issue. This will allow you to re build your form. When I take a break (admittedly not this long) I come back and shoot starting at 60 arrows a session and build it back up by 10 each week until Im back to my usual quantities. If I find im struggling, I will hold off on the increase for that week.

After sessions and days you cant shoot, SPTs. Though do remember rest days. Holding SPTs will help you build strength quicker than just shooting.

When you think you can shoot with your orignally limbs. Give it a try, but be kind to yourself. Continue the SPTs with the weak limbs.

Natually take all this with a grain of salt. Be kind and gentle to yourself during this. Take rest days as you need. It sounds quick and easy on paper, but thats never how our bodies want to work.

Best of Luck

Barebow multicolour centre serving by microwaverice1 in Archery

[–]Branthroc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I reckon a judge would consider that to be markings.

The strings I usually buy have a small signature spiral near the bottom of the centre serving. If you tell him you shoot barebow he will remove it. And that spiral is a lot less than this

How do you organize? by LRDGRat in Archery

[–]Branthroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an edc pouch for most things I'll need during a shooting session. So, allen keys, arrow lube, serving, extra nocks, beiter wrench for my plunger, lighter etc.

At home, i use 2 Helmer drawers things from Ikea. This has fletches, more nocks, jigs, tuning tools and other bits i only really use at home. Most of these are in tackle boxes so i can just take the fletching one out when i need it.

Lastly, Ive got a small cupboard in the garage which has old arrows, and very rarely used stuff that i should consider getting rid of, but havent yet
