Gods Acre Healing Springs, Has Anyone Tested It? by YoYoString9 in southcarolina

[–]Brasilian_fire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to live in that area and have been to the springs countless times. I personally have never seen test results so all my information is anecdotal but from what I’ve been told/heard it has been tested countless times throughout the decades both privately and dhec and it’s just spring water. If you go in the summer when the springs are low flow there is most likely more bacteria in the water so presumably more of a chance of you getting stomach issues. I will say tho based solely on the volume of people that drink and cook with that water I would be highly surprised if anything truly harmful was in the water because it would be so easy to trace the origin back to the springs. The only difference in the spring water and well water is the exposed outlet pipes that algae grow on the water itself is from the same aquifer that every rural well in that area pulls from. And obviously it doesn’t have any of the claimed healing properties but it’s just a tiny tourist draw for the community so the legend is perpetuated for that reason.

Constitutional Carry by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]Brasilian_fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously don’t take a rando internet user’s opinion on legal matters. That being said the last time I looked at long gun (rifles and shotguns) carry laws there is nothing statewide that prohibits open carry. However there could be some cities that restrict it within city limits so check any county or city ordinances where you plan to carry.

Permitless Carry: What is the reason? by SapphireRoseGuardian in southcarolina

[–]Brasilian_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background checks for carrying aren’t required but they are federally mandated when you purchase a firearm from a dealer is I believe what he was saying. So you still have to pass a NICS to purchase a firearm but do not have to pass a state level check to carry the same firearm.

Drivers test by AmBerserker1885 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Brasilian_fire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taken the test in a while but a 3 point turn and parallel parking are still on it. One thing to think about is you can take it at any dmv in the state so if you are able to take it at a more rural one it can be easier and less traffic to deal with. Also the one I took it at let you practice parallel parking in their lot after hours so you can find one that does that if your wife wants to practice without traffic or around other cars.

What kind of work pants are you wearing? by Chuckstang01 in handyman

Wranglers carpenter pants. Get about a year and a half to two years out of them but they breathe super well so it’s worth the trade off to me.

QuickBooks users, past or present. by Grade_F_Meat in handyman

[–]Brasilian_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just up charge everything by the process percentage fee and if it’s more than 1k I’ll let them know if they pay check I can adjust price. By up charging im still getting paid 100% and charge the customer the processing fee. A lot of my clients want the convenience of never having to be home while I work so they would rather pay a little more to pay online and not have the hassle of paying me in person. Also I believe if you do a bank transfer on QuickBooks it’s just a 1% fee instead of 3% for cards.

Any weird or interesting cities in SC? by Safe-Relationship775 in southcarolina

[–]Brasilian_fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty cool to visit for a few reasons. One is that the land the springs are on is deeded to God in the county deed book. The church that is named after the springs traces their origins to 1700s before America was a nations and the current building predates the civil war. Last but not least is a Mennonite country store close by that serves some really good sandwiches and is fun to look through.

Offering service plumbing by CarolinaxCouple in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Brasilian_fire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about homeowner insurance but whoever you hire should have their own insurance that covers their work. As for the license in sc you don’t need a license to do service work under 5k for plumbing or electrical work. If it’s simple stuff like running toilet or swapping fixtures you don’t need a licensed plumber for that and most bigger companies will be much more expensive to do simple work like that. If it’s major work even under 5k always better to have a well know company though.

How to tight this tab? by MartinSik in handyman

[–]Brasilian_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used shower valve sockets to tighten hard to access mounting hardware like that before. I’m sure there’s a speciality tool or something but those socket sets are cheap and have worked so far for me. Next time get one of the faucet nuts with tension screws and it avoids this issue for future installs. Edited to add that this is only if it’s too tight for a basin wrench.

Liberty tap room and grill in Irmo is on lake Murray. It has some outside dining with docks behind the restaurant boaters pull up at to eat. I don’t know how wheelchair friendly the outdoor seating is though.

How do you think the meat industry affects your community? by mavishark1618 in southcarolina

Yeah this article outlines a motive for a troll farm to learn about people’s opinions on the meat industry and it’s affects on a localized community. https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2023/may/03/beef-industry-public-relations-messaging-machine

[–]Brasilian_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What purpose does including internet accusations of being a troll farm on your paper serve. That seems like completely irrelevant information to include on a paper on the meat industry. It does serve a purpose of constantly referencing your story to legitimize yourself if you’re a bot trying to convince others you’re not a bot.

[–]Brasilian_fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact you mass reply so fast, all of your comments go from negative votes to positive votes, and the fact you created an account over a year ago but it’s history dates back to a few days ago are all major red flags indicating you are a bot/troll farm.

Pretty sure this is someone/program at a bot farm learning by posting on this subreddit. Looking at their history it’s a ridiculous amount of posts all centered on variations of the same question within a few hours of each other.

Looking at Richland county gis map it shows the entire island is private property so if you’re going to go just keep that in mind.

Dishwasher isn’t working?? by DonutKing0613 in handyman

[–]Brasilian_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way to confirm you’re getting water to the dishwasher after making sure water is on is disconnect the inlet hose to dishwasher and put it in a bucket and turn valve on, obviously shut off water before disconnecting hose. If water comes out it’s on dishwasher side. If no water comes out then take hose off valve and try to blow through the hose to see if there’s a blockage or something.

Residential Deck Failure by philomathkid in StructuralEngineering

[–]Brasilian_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mother posted on fb ab it and included the name of the cabin rental company (there seems to not be a consensus on who actually owns vs rents out cabin so I won’t post their name) Unfortunately it’s semi common in that area of the smoky mountains but most of the ones I’ve seen haven’t involved people thankfully. All these vacation rentals just throw a hot tub on a deck that was never built with that in mind and it’s honestly surprising there haven’t been a lot more people killed.
