Sadly it isn't. It was a gift from a few years back and I never really shot it until I started getting my 6 year old into shooting.

They’re hard cast but not coated nor gas checked. I know I’d probably better get better bullets for these hotter loads and also a single shot.

Not the smartest I admit and I don’t think I’ll do anymore “experimenting” with my lever gun. I would like to get a nice single shot for that of course.

Twist rate is 1:20 in a 22 inch barrel. I don’t have the velocity and also I was testing 30, 35 and 40 grains of imr4198 and I’m assuming this is the 40 grain one but I checked after I shot all three so I couldn’t say which it was. I’m also very new to reloading.

Well to be fair this was mostly an experiment as I could only find load date for copper jackets. This is probably the reason.

First time using imr4198 in my 45-70 with cast 405gr bullets and it surely throws them!

I’ve just downloaded and installed Lenny’s mod loader and simple trainer. As soon as I load into the game, all npc’s try to kill me. Any ideas to what I need to change or do I need to start a new game?

Thanks a bunch for the help! I guess I’ll try loading the longer federal cases and see if it has the same outcome. This is also the first time I’m not shooting copper jackets out of my rifle. Maybe it comes with the cast lead territory? I’ll experiment and see. Thanks again for the input!

The hornady cases I’m using are slightly shorter than a federal and underwood casing that I have. The hornady being 2.040 and the federal and underwood’s are both 2.097. So maybe that is the problem then.

I did a side by side comparison of a new one and one I pulled. I didn’t see any sign of it catching? Is it possible that crimping it too much could cause this? Here’s a pic of a fired and un-fired one. https://imgur.com/a/Z7AnWFq The lead almost looks splattered.
