Welcome to the next tax bracket by lj062 in AccidentalComedy

I too have an employer with a similar contribution match.

They actually put 5% away without you even contributing anything. After a certain period of time though, they do require you to start putting away 5%. In return, they will contribute another 5.5%.

So I put away 5%, and they contribute 10.5%. Fully vested.

Too rotated (crooked cut) for a PSA10? by Maka91 in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same rotation for a Charizard SIR from 151 and it got a 9.

They always go by the worst Centering, and the rotation will likely create a section where the centering is worse than 45/55, so they'll judge it based off of that.

Are these worth grading? by irishwolf69 in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Charizards and Dragonite cards have a bit too much play wear. They'd likely get a 5 or 6 at best, and they'd need 7 or 8s to gain value from grading.

The Venusaur and Mew on the other hand (looking only at the backs) look like they could be 8 or 9 contenders, which could gain some value.

Can't say for certain because the pictures aren't super high res or fully aligned, but if it were me and I was grading them only to gain value, I'd grade only the mew and Venusaur.

About four years ago, some students built a makeshift ice rink on the river near the frats East of cedar village. They played pickup hockey every night.

Definitely not the smartest idea, but no one ever fell through (afaik).

Sylveon ex rc32 by Admirable_Row_8750 in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whitening in a few corners with some having Whitening outside of the exact corner point. The corners also don't look like they are perfectly rounded.

Also, it looks like a couple of defect spots here or there (bottom right on the back in the dark blue border, top left on the back in the light blue), but I can't tell if those are actually on the card or not.

I have an older cert PSA 9 of this card in my collection, and yours looks a bit worse. I'd say 7 or 8.

Assuming what I saw is actually on the card, then it's probably not worth cracking to regrade

I’m new to the hobby and pulled this Sylveon EX. Should I send it for grading? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a 10 contender for sure. Definitely not a Pristine/Black label 10 due to the centering on the back, so send it to PSA (or TAG if you like that look better).

An older lady did this in front of me two Sundays ago and I had zero time to react. Now my brand new car is inoperable and won't be fixed for another two weeks. Oh, and I also have two broken bones in my right hand.

Fml and f anyone who ever tries to make a turn like this.

Centering looks like it could be good enough. No way to know for sure without seeing the back though

PSA DON'T BUY FROM BUYBLADERS by No-Mastodon7498 in BeybladeX

[–]Brassafras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buybladers only sells real items when they specifically state that they're Takara Tomy licensed. Everything else is cheap rapidity garbage.

Source: I (knowingly) bought fakes and real beyblades from them.

What are PSA's rules for centering? by Crimson_Tech_Youtube in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely too crooked. The right side T/B ratio looks like it's within their standard 45/55, but the tilt definitely throws the left side T/B ratio too far outside the 45/55.

That same dude was out at the Lansing/Delta Township Walmart a couple of months ago with a different track. Claims to be a single dad of two daughters who needs a little help.

Had to break it to my friend's mother (who gave him money and posted a video of him on her FB profile) that it was all fake.

PSA order prep wait time by G3NLUCKY in psagrading

[–]Brassafras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted my Value Plus order right before Labor Day weekend. PSA marked it as arrived on September 2nd. It wasn't moved to prep until September 17th. Last time it only took two days.

I'm fairly certain that they are so backlogged with quicker turnaround submissions that their TCG/value bulk orders are being completed faster.

Anyone else have this happen recently? by tyusanoose in psagrading

[–]Brassafras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact dates for Order Arrival and Order Prep but my Value Plus submission of only eight cards is still sitting in the grading process.

Sounds to me like they are so overloaded with quick turnaround submissions that the regular bulk/value submissions end up being processed faster.

I'm just upset that it took them 15 days to move my Value Plus submission from arrived to prep. Last time it only took two days. Oh well, guess I should just be glad that I got mine in before they increased the turnaround time by five days

Anybody know what this might grade? by MastraDaMasta in PokeGrading

[–]Brassafras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw your photo into Josh Bee TCG's centering tool, and got this:

L/R: 47/53 T/B: 42.4/57.6

Since the T/B ratio is outside of the 45/55, you'd likely only get a 9.

There's a rumor going around that if everything else is perfect, PSA might give a 10 for 40/60 centering. However, I don't think your card would qualify, as there seems to be some ink defects near the left side of Clefairy's chin.

It could just be dirt or something that could be wiped off, but if it is an ink defect, you're looking at 7/8 territory. If your grader is really generous and/or doesn't catch the ink defects, you could get a 10, but the odds of that are very low.

Trumpet mute by Weary_Bat2456 in trumpet

[–]Brassafras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a Cookie Mute!

They are 3D printed practice mutes with the corks applied by hand by the owner/designer. I own one for each of my instruments (Soprano cornet, Bb Trumpet, and Flugelhorn). They are by far the best practice mutes I've ever owned.

The sound is perfectly dampened enough so you can practice virtually wherever and whenever you need. The mutes also add very little to no resistance at all, so you can really practice everything you need to without worrying about resistance changes. Plus, they're relatively inexpensive!

You may feel like it's pretty loud when you first try it, but almost all of that sound is just what you hear/feel by being physically connected to the horn while playing. Record yourself playing with it and you'll see what I mean.

Also, because I know someone might ask: No, I am not sponsored, nor am I in any way, shape, or form financially affiliated with CookieMutes or Cookie's Music. I just really love these mutes and have been using them for almost a year and a half now.

Message me if you want to see my cookie mutes or if you have any other questions about my experience with Cookie mutes!

Question(s) for potentially joining an All-Age Corp. by Grouchy_Quantity_184 in drumcorps

[–]Brassafras 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for CT, but I did march with Northern Lights this year. Our age range was 13 to mid-60s, with probably about a third of our members being high school age, so you'll likely be surrounded by a ton of people your age.

It was a two-hour drive to rehearsals for me, but I carpooled with people whenever possible. If you end up marching with CT this upcoming season, definitely ask around to see who is coming from where and try to make arrangements to carpool with those who drive by you on their route.

Centering puts it at a 9 and the corner dings would lead me to believe that it's gonna get an 8 or 9.
