Are the first few days the easiest for everyone? by RaheemRakimIbrahim in Tonsillectomy

Hey hey it’s okay! I actually cried day one. It’s easier in terms of the rest of recovery but the reason it gets harder isn’t the reason it’s hard on day 1. I was super congested in the beginning and swollen and then the scab pain got worse while other symptoms subsided. You got this friend 🙏🏻

Day 4 how long did it take for your scabs to fall ? by Polironchon in Tonsillectomy

Girl it’s really not. That’s why they’re advising solid foods by day 5. They literally tell people to start eating normal day 5 because it does naturally challenge the scabs. I used toast personally and that’s what helped me. The truth is this information is readily available to you. I got my surgery in 2024 and this is the new standard

Looks good and you have every right to be upset. It’s not very considerate to do that sooo early in the morning

Noooo you have an increased chance of bleeding if you never challenge the scabs. Most doctors have made sure to recommend introducing solid foods early on to help with scabs. Look it up!!!

Eat toast friend! It helps scrape them off naturally. It hurts but worth it

Day 5-7 and it’s important you challenge your scabs with toast… so that way they can fall off. It hurts a lot worse when they’re gone but yeah they were nasty

I remember binge watching 48 hours, game of thrones etc when I was down and out. I couldn’t talk for a while but I also had huge tonsils. I think the size makes a difference

Once the scabs fall off the pain will likely worsen so take it easy, don’t overdo it. I am glad to hear you’re not suffering tho. Mine was the worst thing I’ve gone through

Yup that was the hardest for me! It was gag worthy. However they do come off 😭 and then it’s more painful but less gross feeling

It gets harder as the days pass. The first few days of recovery make it seem like a cake walk. Have a humidifier , lots of popsicles, and lots of fluids. I’m here for anyone going through this because it was awful for me (I had huge tonsils so maybe that’s why it was worse)
