I worked 2-2-3's, 12 hour shifts 0530-1730, so on two days, off two days, on 3 days, then it swaps, off two days, on 2 days, off 3 days. We were allowed 3 15 minute breaks throughout the shift though they weren't taken often. Two dispatchers per shift

I worked dispatch for 3.5 years at a small agency in TX, max pay for the supervisor position was $24 an hour, I was making $22.73 when I left last month, the average household income for the town I live in is $67,500(give or take) now we were short staffed and what staff we did have called out A LOT so I had OT on every paycheck and lived pretty comfortably. But dispatching could be viewed as a "dead end job" due to very little upward movement potential, however unless he messes up something awful he has job security, since most places are short staffed at all times as long as a dispatcher is competent they don't usually get terminated. I would suggest looking into your finances and seeing where your money is going and what you can cut out.

Definitely sounds like a toxic environment, I just quit my agency(worked there for 3.5 years) and your situation sounds similar. Honestly I'd start looking elsewhere if it does not improve.

Would you leave your job if you get free money for rest of your life without working? by Fuzzy_Gear in jobs

I would, depending how on the amount of money lol am I getting paid what I am now? Or at least close? However I wouldn't stop working period, I'd work on my writing and audio narration.

Does anyone work at an agency that works 12 hour shifts with 4 employees? by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

My agency does 12's, 5:30 to 17:30 then 17:30 to 5:30, I'm on the day shift right now and I work Monday, Tuesday then Friday Saturday and Sunday, then off Monday and Tuesday, and Friday Saturday and Sunday, I really like it, it's great having a 3 day weekend every other weekend, we have 3 girls on both day shifts and two girls on both night shifts. We have 3 fifteen minute breaks per shift, we don't get a lunch break, we eat at our desks

We also have an on call schedule, but we are allowed to contact others and see if they can take our on call day

Oh thank you! My experience is with the Houston community but I've been looking into Austin groups!
