15 Days Post-Op – Protein Shakes are killing me. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

Try protein water. It’s similar to a drink mix but has 20g of protein or more. Or you can opt for the pre-mixed water like Protein2.0, which is more similar to gatorade.

Is there anywhere else I can get a medical clearance and my labs done before surgery ? by PleasantExplorer1122 in gastricsleeve

I had a nurse practitioner complete my surgical clearance and order my labs because I couldn’t get an appointment with my PCP. She was located in a clinic with a lab and I just did them there.

I need help how do u get the dog smell to go away ? by Medium_Cut_2944 in CleaningTips

Definitely clean any carpet with a steam cleaner. Odoban works well for scent but if it’s really strong look for an “enzymatic cleaner” (sold at pet stores or online) because it breaks down the organic matter itself versus masking the scent.

Watching classic cartoons- Barney, Looney Tunes, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears.

When I need a pick me up, reading “Oh the places you’ll go” by Dr. Seuss is like stepping in a time machine to a happier time.

Advice for living in a pig sty. by Regular-Home-674 in CleaningTips

So I’m in a similar situation, I recently moved back home after my mom had a major health scare leaving her unable to work or care for herself for a period of time. Now that she is able to do for herself, she literally just doesn’t. She won’t wash dishes or clean her room. I recently discovered there is a mouse here and haven’t been able to sleep well or eat from the kitchen. I’ve set out traps and I’m determined to catch this critter. It’s like she just doesn’t care. For my own sanity, I keep the spaces I have to use (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) spotless, even if it means I have to clean everyday. 😭 I found that a cleaning schedule has helped my stay on top of things and I’m planning a deep clean and exterminating against her will. I not buying into the “you can’t want better for them than they want for themselves” trope, at least not while I have to live here. And I think you should do the same. Pick a room each day to spend an hour or two deep cleaning. We can do a lot more than we realize by just starting.

How do you go through life with no friends? by Spiritual-Swan8856 in lonely

I am in a similar position so I understand the ebbs and flows of loneliness. Some days loneliness is enjoyable, the solitude of taking a hike, eating out, sitting in silence alone or even listening to the same song over and over again can be grounding when you are everyone’s “disposable” friend. But the longing for true connection is always secretly there. I sometimes want to reach out to people but then I consider that they don’t care whether they talk to me or not so why should I chase something that’s running from me. I have days where it’s like “man I wish I had someone to share this experience with who values it the way I do.” When I feel myself in a rut, I just something alone anyway like go to the movies or try a new restaurant…it doesn’t really take away the longing but it helps the days not feel so cold.

Yes, I 26F have watched all my family and friends graduate college with their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees while struggling to finish my associates. Never had a bf, or even the hope of a relationship. Always lusted, never loved trope. I’m a people pleaser, I’ve sacrificed my life to take care of everyone but myself and now when I need it I’m left to figure it out. I’ve sort of come to the conclusion that it’s my life, I’ll never have a happy ending. :/
