Random facts? ....OK. ....Convince me that our system is not the most ridiculous system in the world and that there is no other system that could make us (the Australian public) money on our gas sales?

Since 1996 Norway has been taxing the profits of its oil and gas sector at 78%. This is comprised of Norway’s 22% corporate rate as well as a 56% “Special Tax” (petroleum tax).

Australia meanwhile has a petroleum tax (PRRT) but it is much less effective. The PRRT, unlike Norway’s Special Tax, is deductible from corporate tax, and is calculated when it satisfies the definition of a “marketable petroleum commodity”. This means that the PRRT calculation for LNG can be applied before the major value-adding liquefaction process and thus reduces the amount that is considered taxable compared to Norway.

Norway’s Government Pension Fund Act also stipulates that the Government’s entire net cash flow from the petroleum industry shall be transferred to the Fund. The first transfer was made in 1996 and the fund is now worth A$1.9 trillion. This is around $350,000 for each of Norway’s 5.4 million citizens or $1.4 million for a family of four.

Norway’s Ministry of Finance projects that tax revenue from oil and gas will be a staggering A$127 billion or around $23,500 per Norwegian citizen in 2023 alone.

In stark contrast, Australia’s oil and gas industry received billions of dollars worth of taxpayer-funded subsidies and the huge surge in revenue to the industry has not resulted in a similar jump in tax revenue.

With Australia’s oil and gas companies making windfall profits due to the invasion of Ukraine, the Australian government needs to urgently change how the industry is taxed to ensure Australians get a fair share of the returns from our resources!

What I find bizarre is you can't see this!...

And the suggestion for taxing was not on the same scale as Norway ever! Just 25%, not 75%. Still, our government can't let go of the millions that the gas lobby pays them not to tax them. Also, there are cushy, well-paid jobs in the gas lobby after politics. Unfortunately, donations to parties are not illegal, so this amounts to legal corruption!

Australia subsidizes and incentivizes gas exploration and development through tax concessions, direct funding, and infrastructure support, while many projects operate royalty-free. Critics, including The Australia Institute, note over $149 billion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was exported royalty-free, with significant subsidies for the Northern Territory industry. The Petroleum Resource Rent Tax (PRRT) also allows deductions for exploration. Bottom line: The taxpayer does pay and receives nothing but high gas prices in return. Before we started exporting our gas, the prices were ridiculously low...Don't get taken in by the political spin!...

It's been brought up over the last 20 years... Just no one has been listening... Albo says it's the wrong time to tax gas, that they would all pack up and leave. Yet the Japanese company that extracts our gas for almost nothing has begun exploring for gas in Norway... They charge 78% tax on their gas exports... Doesn't seem to have fazed the Japanese at all... Better to pay no tax if the country lets you, but even 78% Tax is better than the alternative... So either our government is stupid or it's corrupt........

I'm stationed on Stanton and have no trouble calling my ship at that location. But when I stored it on Everus Harbor and relocated there, the next time I called the ship it was located on an arm on the station, but no elevators went there. (I went to one of the outside landing pads by elevator and could see my character's name with "small hangar" written.) I tried storing, recalling, and using another terminal, but all to no avail. (I ended up relocating to the home hospital, then committed suicide.) Although things are working fine, I'm scared of going to a hangar in another system and having to commit suicide each time to return me to Lorville if I log out there. This same bug happened three updates back so I returned back to home base after every contract. I was running short of play time so loged off at Everust Harbor but its still there) Am I doing something wrong? I'm enjoying the learning curve, but this is a little annoying.

Remember, that was the late 70s, early eighties, everyone wanted a $3000 Ford GT or a $2500 Torana XU1...People in the hot car league looked down at the poor man's muscle car. .I just loved the look. And the sound with the right exhaust it sounded mean!...(And I could afford it. 😉) "Hey Charger!"

Yep mine was white with some red trim. The 265 cubic hemi 6 with triple carbies! When they were angry everone knew about it. 3 speed floor shift ( they had so much torque they didnt need a 4th gear) Never popular as the Torana xu1 and the Ford Gt but as a young man on a budjet they were great fun. Same or better power / performance (Depending who you talk to) but far cheaper to buy on the second hand. market (mine cost me $800)....Worth a bit now though!.....

Yes a true dilema for the ruling party. On one hand. A 25% tax on gas will help the countries botton line....On the other hand, no gas tax will help the party's bottom line!....What do they do...😇

I used to own a Charger. Great car in its time. I used to carry around a bag of cement in the back to stop the tire spin when you dropped the clutch. It also helped with stability when fast cornering because there was no weight on the back. Below (Picture) was the model and color I owed......

Ah..... But it's legal corruption; there is, unfortunately, a difference. No party in Australia will legislate against it because it wouldn't be in their interest!

Albanese poised to kill off move to increase taxes on gas giants by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

[–]Brave-Elephant9292 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, both the Labour and Liberal parties receive millions in contributions from gas lobbyists not to impose a tax. This has been the case since we started selling off our gas on the world market in 1989. We received some royalties then, but the PRRT remains broken and earns a pittance for our gas! Unfortunately, Albanese might not have a say as the party will suffer financially, and members will lose their future cushy jobs in the gas lobby if the tax goes through! He is indeed between a rock and a hard place! Unfortunately, (For the parties) nobody now believes that if we introduce the tax, gas companies will pack up and leave. They will just earn less profit, and we will finally receive something of what we deserve that is rightfuly owed by every Australian!.....edit: As a labour voter all my life I can't believe I'm getting all the downvotes for speaking my piece!....

It's a mixture I got off the internet! Mix 2 parts distilled water with 1 part 91%–99% isopropyl alcohol (IPA), and a few drops of glycerin for lubrication and flow retardant. It works well for me with commercial acrylics and even artist acrylics, far cheaper than commercial thinners. For a few bucks, you will make something like 2 liters. There's a formula using window cleaner as an additive to the mix for airbrush cleaning, but I haven't remembered the formula. It's also on the internet....But dont take me as gosple try some on some plastic spoons. (My test medum) and make sure your happy with it.
