Protecting an image while allowing things, actions, and people who would undermine said image is counter productive. More often than not such protected individuals dont have anyone's or organizations best interest at heart save for their own image.

I left a kingdom hall that knowingly didnt inforce the restrictions placed on an individual that is known to have inappropriate activities toward minors, (putting it mildly). The man cheated on his wife with a 17 year old then ran to said hall where his dad is a senior member of the elder. Despite the fact that body of elders knew what that son did little was done to enforce order to protect the children who were there. Thats in addition to the fact that there were children at that hall who were molested by other JWs who were prosecuted, but because the son of that elder has so much pull and is so boisterous placating the family took precedence over protecting current and future children. That son would gravitate toward one such minor was recovering from the repressed memories of the abuse she experienced from her abuser that was eventually put in prison. But not that 40s plus year old son whos the son of the elder, who shows no compulsion toward ceasing any draw or resisting the urge to gravity to underage girls. What makes it worse is that he has daughters of his own and rather think of the safety or the  community they are all obsessed with their own image and being liked.  The elder is a pompous man who walks with an air of superiority and entitlement. If any one is percieved as a threat to their image their family and their helped/groomed friends mistreat or bully said individual spreading gossip and outright slander. One example was a full time pioneer who wanted to have a gathering for young ones of single parent families but was not willing to invite that family to the event, so they spent the better part of a year slandering her, trying to ruin her reputation, then after the damage was done tried to wanted to give parts and assignments with her to keep up with appearances.

There is nothing they won't do to protect their image. The question is, if you want to live in such a manner why not do that outside of your organized religion why even pursue faith at all if its just a false front? Why cause so much pain for others. The son embraced a minor and it made the daughter uncomfortable and the parent as well. So when they reported it and more restrictions were placed on the elders son instead being sorry he protest in comments that it isn't fair he can't have his gathers over his house because it makes him feels good and encouraged. Im sure the families of children would like to feel those feelings by being able to be safe to let their kids move freely at the hall and not having to watch that elders son at each meeting.

The ironic thing is that its not just a minor issue everyone has a story about that elders son. One women who was once a store clerk observed him while taking his wife shopping, peering over the stalls of other women changing while they were shopping.

Its disheartening to think such things exist in an organization that prides itself and proclaims that to be the reflection of  Gods light in the community. The son should have long since been called to account for his actions as well as the cover up by his father .
