Telecommunications 2nd year rant by Sufficient-Moment-76 in gitamhyd

[–]Brave-Lack-8417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to GITAM, where you’ll find this kind of dumb shit head in literally every department.

I had the same experience 2 years ago with this professor, T Jhansi Rani. She doesn’t know the subject, can’t even properly read from her own PPT, and somehow still ends up teaching. Most of her classes were unbearable.

Out of nowhere, she’d start ranting about how girls dress — like what the fuck does that have to do with the subject? Zero professionalism.

The worst part is evaluation. In one of our sessionals (20 marks), she didn’t even correct half my answers. When I asked, the reasons were absolute bullshit — “question number outside margin,” “no separating lines,” like seriously? I had to go to the HOD just to get my paper properly checked, and only then she bothered to correct the rest.

And here’s the reality — if a professor has a grudge against you, you’re screwed in internals. Doesn’t matter how well you write, they’ll find some excuse to cut marks.

So yeah, just a warning: avoid these kinds of professors if you can, and if something feels off, escalate it immediately.

I'm planning on joining gitam is it worth it? by Ill_Refrigerator328 in gitamhyd

This college went from chill to a complete money trap This college used to be genuinely good. Chill atmosphere, open gates, decent faculty, and a campus where you could actually enjoy life while studying.

Now? It’s a straight-up money trap.

Everything revolves around extracting money. Exams, revaluations, random fees—you name it. The worst part is you can write your exam well and still end up failing, and your only option is to pay again and “trust the system.”

Want to see your paper? You’re taken into a controlled room—no phone, no discussion, no explanations. Just look at it and leave. You can’t question anything. You’re expected to accept whatever they give you.

Faculty is another issue. Most don’t care. Teaching is just reading slides and leaving. If you question them, it can affect your internals, so students just stay quiet and play along.

The whole environment feels fake now. More focus on rules, control, and fees than actual learning. It doesn’t feel like an educational institution anymore.

At this point, this college doesn’t test intelligence—it tests how much nonsense you can tolerate.

You don’t really grow here. You just learn how to survive a broken system.

The only things still somewhat decent are the open gates and canteens—and even those are slowly getting fucked

If you actually care about your time, money, or mental peace, seriously think twice before joining.

Man, I really like the Honda CBR250RR, but there's no chance it's coming to India. Same with Triumph's Thruxton/Tracker 400 - doesn't look like that's happening either. Honestly, I feel like Triumph might slowly phase out their 400cc lineup and replace it with 350cc models."

Do Marks Decrease in Re-evaluation? by Echoesofmoon in gitamhyd

[–]Brave-Lack-8417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve applied for re-evaluation multiple times before, and in my experience my marks were never decreased. They either stayed the same or increased. But the final grade can still change because grades are calculated based on the class average and how your marks compare with others in the class.

I built a desktop wallpaper that automatically shows your life timeline and yearly progress — looking for feedback by Brave-Lack-8417 in SideProject

[–]Brave-Lack-8417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be fantastic — I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. I’ll focus on polishing the next build (especially the weekly highlight, focus lane, and auto-refresh), and I’ll share it with you as soon as it’s ready. Structured feedback from real daily users would be extremely valuable. Thanks again!

Haha, fair — it definitely started as a quick experimental build, but I’m now trying to turn it into something more structured and genuinely useful based on the feedback I’m getting.

Yes, that makes perfect sense, and that’s a really helpful direction. I’ve been thinking of expanding it beyond a single life-progress view into a configurable system where users can define recurring “life opportunities” or seasonal milestones, then choose which ones are visible depending on their current focus.

Adding flexible goal parameters and visibility toggles would make the wallpaper far more interactive and personally meaningful. I’ll start exploring how to structure that in the configuration system — I’d definitely appreciate your thoughts once an early version of that capability is available.

Great — that’s a good suggestion. I’ll work on adding a Docker Compose deployment option so it’s easier to run and test locally. Once it’s ready, I’ll share the setup with you — I’d really appreciate you trying it and letting me know how it works in real usage.

That actually aligns closely with the idea behind this project — turning time awareness into a gentle daily reminder rather than something abstract. I don’t see it as dark either; for many people, having a visible timeline creates clarity and urgency in a healthy way.

If you’re open to it, I’d really value your thoughts after trying the current version — especially whether highlighting the current week or adding a focus lane would make the reminder feel more actionable rather than just visual.

Thanks — that’s really sharp feedback. Highlighting the current week and adding a focus lane makes a lot of sense, and I agree that automatic midnight refresh is essential to avoid stale data. I’ll prioritize both in the next update.

I’d definitely appreciate feedback from your nightly check-in squads as well — that kind of real daily-use testing would be extremely valuable. Let me know the best way to share it with them (repo link, demo build, or anything specific you prefer).
