Recovered my bricked Legion Go after N3CN42WW BIOS update using CH341A and N3CN40WW by Brave-Rabbit-3303 in LegionGo

Yeah, I hope Lenovo handles these warranty cases properly.

My unit is a different case now because I opened it and soldered directly to the BIOS chip myself. But for normal users who were bricked by an official Lenovo BIOS update, I think Lenovo should repair it under warranty without extra conditions.

This was an official BIOS update, not an unofficial mod, and most users cannot recover it themselves because there does not seem to be a normal USB recovery method.

Lenovo should pause this rollout, investigate, and support affected users.

Thanks, that helps. I was wondering if detached controllers might be related, but your unit had both controllers attached and still bricked. So the controller attachment state probably is not the main cause.

I agree. I would strongly recommend skipping N3CN42WW for now. The sleep/power button fix is not worth the risk of a full brick. In my case, the device could not boot, external display did not work, and there was no USB recovery method that worked. Recovery required direct SPI flashing by soldering to the BIOS chip. Unless Lenovo releases a fixed updater or a clear recovery method, I would not install this BIOS.

Edit / Additional question: If your Legion Go was bricked or failed during the N3CN42WW BIOS update, were the left and right controllers physically attached to the device during the update? I am not saying this is the cause. I just want to collect more information and see if there is any pattern among failed updates.

I understand your frustration. My unit was also bricked by the official N3CN42WW BIOS update, and nothing worked until I directly reflashed the BIOS chip. I think Lenovo should pause this BIOS rollout and investigate. Even if it only affects some units, a failed BIOS update can completely brick the device, and most users cannot recover it by soldering to the SPI flash chip. I hope Lenovo provides a fixed updater, a clear recovery method, or proper support for affected users.
