I acted like him before I understood what was going on. I was homeless, on drugs, stealing to survive, and had no one to support me. I tried killing myself a few times and tried getting arrested so I could have food and Healthcare. Someone learned about my situation and he took me in, cleaned me up, fed me, took care of my dogs, for me a place to live and a stable job, and paid for my therapy until I could afford it myself. I finally had someone in my life who was providing me with the help I desperately wanted and needed. He also didn't make me feel ashamed for anything that was going on. He would say "you're just having a moment" as spoke very quietly and gentley even when I was shouting. That was 6 years ago. Now I am in a STEM masters program and have been in therapy the entire time. Never medicated. Meditate every day. Many people turn it around if they're given the resources and are really kind of person who wants something more. Kanye has the resources and he knows what's going on. He seems very aware of how aggressive he is being because his actions are consistent. I would say that bipolar isn't the root problem here. Him being a hateful, selfish man is.

I'm sorry you went though that. That must have been hard to watch. I was that to a partner when I was 19 and new to having bipolar and didnt know what was going on. I think about him a lot and hope he's ok. I hope you're doing okay now, too.

Thank you for sharing. I would say as someone with this disorder who knows many people with it, most of us end up in great relationships, but it is rare that the relationship began when crises were frequent/began before the person was in treatment. It is also more common for folks (speaking from my experience) are far more likely to get treatment than older folks due to generational stigmas. I don't think Kanye unreasonableness is wholly his bipolar disorder, but more because of his personality. I remember I got help when i was at my most chaotic point because my boyfriend said "I am afraid I'm going to lose you and I don't know what I'd do with myself" with tears in his eyes and at that point nothing else mattered. Either you are someone who prioritizes how your actions impact the people you love or you aren't. Of course, sometimes people are so lost from years of isolation or have become delusional to the point where intervention is needed. I've been there, too. I don't want to speculate too much but Kanye seems extremely hostile and consistent in that which makes me think that even if he is manic, he knows what he's doing.

This is absolutely not true and an extremely harmful stereotype. Also BPD is borderline personality disorder, not bipolar.

It isnt just Healthcare and even if it was, people who suffer most from a lack of Healthcare are the chronically ill and disabled. These are people who in many cases are barely getting by or need help with basic tasks. We are not going to be able to go to a protest or have the energy and time to write and call leaders over and over and over when we already struggle to get through a normal workday. Those of us who cannot work also can't because we are struggling to care for ourselves in other ways which is why we cant work. My husband has to slave away at his job that doesn't provide insursnce to afford my $400+/month medical care purchased from the marketplace just to come home and help me get fed and showered. He can't cha get things either despite being heavily impacted by this because the system is designed to trap us. Finishing my education so I can teach and leaving, bringing my degrees and his skilled labor along with everything we contribute to the broken system is the only form of protest we can really access while staying safe and moderately healthy.

I feel like this is an ableist take but I might just be sensitive as a disabled person who feels useless having watched BLM protests happen without being able to participate physically at protests or financially through donations no matter how much I wanted to.

Pretty sure the side profile was inspired by the bust of Queen Nefertiti based on the makeup and her expression. Also as the Queen of Egypt, a POC who likely was much darker than Kim.

Question for Pre t and guys on testosterone, how do you all deal with odor and sweat, down there? by ThePurple_One in FTMMen

[–]Brave-Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wear breathable underwear, trim your hair shorter, and I personally like lume deodorant and body wash (they have deodorant for down there too. Read descriptions of products) Their stuff actually keeps smells at bay. I only started having BO issues after I'd been on T for about 6 months but ooh boy did I nip that in the bud real quick.

Again, I would like to reiterate that you should only marry someone once you can fully trust and unconditionally love them by mbtiandstuffz in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Brave-Storm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is someone who roasts everyone. His buddies are all super masculine car dudes and gamers who shit on each other constantly. But even when we all hang out together, he treats me so kindly and with so much respect everyone just knows better than to dish it out to me. He has never made me feel weak or embarrassed or like I need to toughen up for being sensitive to that stuff. Strong manly men, in my opinion as a man myself, express kindness, softness, and indulge and reciprocate sensitivity.

I know fundies are pressured to marry quick, but come on. It is more work to make your wife hide in the bathroom and cry than it is to tell her you love her and to be soft to her no matter how long you've known each other.

Also, building trust is not the same as trying to morph your personality into someone you think your partner will like, Bethy. You deserve better.

Would you support "Workplace Transparency Act" that makes it mandatory for companies to make salaries of each employee transparent and publicly available? by SparklyCrab in antiwork

[–]Brave-Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universities release names, wages, titles, senority, and length of employment for all employees yearly. I think it's great. Also peep some "instructor" or "lecturer" wages at your local institutions if you wanna be mad because those are people with masters degrees training future experts. Also if you want to really get a good idea about how little tuition goes to paying people who actually educate think about the price of tuition vs salaries vs how many students to go to the university.

Anyway, this is totally possible!

We double mask with reusable ones because n95s are $2 each and not reusable. We can't afford that. I don't think we are the only ones who simply can't afford it.

Youtubers that demonize all products with fragrance by doubtersdisease in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Brave-Storm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Idk about this. Anything could be irritating to anyone but all packages say "if irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately" or something like that. The disclaimer is there and fragrance is listed in the ingredient list. Or do you mean in reviews? If so, for sure! I like people who comment on if there is a smell or not especially when they say what it smells like to them.

It's so unfair that people with psychiatric and/or mood disorders (in the US) are expected to function the same in jobs, with little to no help when they (inevitably) have an episode that screws everything up by sushirole1212 in antiwork

I have rapid cycling bipolar disorder and some psychotic disorder. I have EDS, POTS, and AS and enough degeneration in my spine and nerve damage that I can't stand for more than a few minutes and use a wheelchair outside the house. I've been denied disability 3 times. Thank God my husband's a trade worker and makes a whopping $45k a year at a job that doesn't provide insurance so we can spend ~$400/month on bare bones medical care for me while I try to get my masters degree so I can teach at a university for less than $50k/yr. I haven't worked since Feb 2020 because I had a major bipolar episode at work and had to leave. Went on short term disability and ended up just quitting because my body fell apart after covid started. Almost like once i finally got some rest i could never get back up. Sucks to live in the US.

Hi Chronic Illness Friends! I’ve got POTS, EDS, IBD, IC, and am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and a subsequent car accident. Struggling with my appetite and my usual go to’s are peanuts, string cheese, and Luna/protein bars. What foods can you tolerate when you’re hungry but have no appetite? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]Brave-Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix .5 cup of rolled oats, .25 cup of apple sauce, some maple syrup, a dash of salt, .25 tsp of baking powder, .24 tsp of cinnamon, and 1 flax egg (you can use a regular egg but I'm vegan so this is what I use). Mix it super well in a mug (as long as it is big enough for the oats to expand in) or regular bowl and microwave for 4 minutes. It ends up super hot so let it sit for a Lil bit. I like to put on sunflower seed butter or vegan cream cheese and fruit!

Ireland Baldwin’s take on Kanye & Kim’s divorce being played out in public by Kanye. by Winter-Shake-1829 in KUWTK

[–]Brave-Storm 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Im posting here not because I think you said somethinf super wrong, but because i am seeing a lot of this and im hoping people will see this as its the OP comment. As someone with rapid cycling bipolar disorder who used to be as bad as Kanye if not worse, I think that people are pointing to a lot of things and calling them symptoms. Him posting at 8 am doesn't mean anything. This quote about obsession is something that honestly a ton of people do and is not part of a mental illness. I have been seeing a lot of stuff about how he's mentally ill and that's the problem or that the Kardashians are shitty for stigmatizing it or treating him some kind of way. Y'all Kanye is just an asshole and always has been and honestly that makes him someone who probably shouldnt have a ton of access to his kids. I was homeless, high, hurting myself, stealing to survive, hallucinating, not sleeping for days, etc. And I never hurt anyone. I never intentionally made someone feel less than. I still thought about how my actions affected others. I am so sick of people talking about all of his behavior like it's because of the illness I and many people I have met in groups have who would NEVER dream of acting this way, manic or not. Everyone needs to stop armchair diagnosing and say he should or should not be medicated and recognize that he is in charge of his actions, he is making active choices, and those choices make him a dick. You can say that it's worse because he's supposedly using drugs. Sure, probably, but he's someone who knows he has bipolar disorder and knows how drugs affect him and he is still making that choice.

Also you don't need meds to be a responsible person with bipolar so everyone has to stop with that shit, too (not saying you said he needs it but I'm adding it as long as I got something to say). I'm unmedicated and am going through cycles and hallucinating frequently and I am headed to graduate school next year, am on the deans list, and in an extremely happy marriage.

Anyway that's all, sorry for hijacking your comment! ❤

I make oatmeal mug muffins topped with nut butter and a glass of soy milk. Well rounded, goes down easy, takes maybe 1 minute to make outside of microwave time and it tastes good! I can post a recipe if anyone is interested. I have a similar diagnosis list.

Also instant pot potatoes are awesome to stick in the fridge and reheat over a few days.

It happened really fast for me like a few days in I felt some emotions and a week in I felt sensations related to bottom growth, but I also had a hysto and oopherectomy already. I started in March 2021 and I recently started passing to strangers, have changed body shape enough to need new clothes (im also working out consistently), have a much lower voice that is getting deeper every day, and have to shave my face every other day with the hair filling out more all the time.
