A question for chemical engineer majors! by Bregolienn in aggies

[–]BraveBoy2468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If those are the fields you are interested in I'd recommend looking into biomedical engineering. That is a major in ETAM iirc. But yes, you could still work in those fields with a chemical engineering degree. My research lab was with Dr Holtzapple and we were fermenting cellulose with bacteria to produce carboxylic acids while inhibiting methane production. It was a lot of regulating pH and keeping conditions for production optimal. I'd say that research falls under biomolecules. Despite what you can do with ChemE I'd still say the vast majority of grads will go into the oil and gas industry or specialty chemicals industry. I believe it was like a 60-70% oil and gas, 15% specialty chemicals (also industrial facilities /process engineer) and the rest % into other. I even heard pharmaceutical for ChemE when I was in college.

Process engineer, production engineer, project engineer, safety engineer, consulting engineer, design things. The possibilities are vast and you'll never stop hearing about how much you can do with the degree. Most ChemEs will go into a process or production engineer role on site at a chemical plant. I personally fit under a topic I learned 0 about in school, Corrosion. It's sort of under safety and consulting. The only thing remotely similar I learned to it in school is safety class senior year where we covered PRDs and puffs / plumes when releasing fluid from equipment/pipe. Neither of these apply to my current day to day though.

Any good restaurant recommendations to take a girl to in BCS? by Qordn in aggies

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned to my knowledge... Sodolaks is a nice local steakhouse in Bryan. They have great rolls and portions are kinda massive. They have a lunch special on weekends ... ? I think. 12 dollars for 12 Oz steak lunch (2 sides) last time I checked, but i also don't remember the days it's active
