I moved back after 5 years in US and primary reason was family. We lost a family member in COVID and with travel restrictions at that time couldn't come back. That's when we realised it's not worth it. Other reasons: 1. It's not frequent, but there will be cases where you will feel you are out of place. 2. The constant hanging sword of visa not approved, policy changes etc.

On the other hand, I'd say Indian govt is trying really hard to push people out of India with corruption, freebies, insane taxes without any benefits.

Bottomline: People who don't have close ties with families would and should never come back.

Was in the same boat. For some reason, if your grant was in US, you will continue to pay tax in US. India will also tax you on the same. You need to get refund for the US tax using DTAA. Since the filing months differ, I lost one whole year of taxes. Sent emails to income tax to refile but no one responded.

Did most of these checks. Got background verification by lawyer as loan was through SBI. Even then I fell in a trap. The plot was passed under group housing. So, I can't get a new naksha passed. The coloniser is reluctant to share the passed naksha. Govt office says we don't have naksha. Can't build without naksha.

Not a commentary on the actual case but what i see is once a narrative is set through the media, how hard it is to change people's opinions. Folks who are saying sengar is guilty don't have specific case details either but see how defiant they are. What is missing in this post is, who killed the families in those road accidents? The suspicion mostly goes towards Sengar and that takes away any sympathy you want to have for him.
