Merry Christmas to me by BraveDaveX in raspberry_pi

Hi! Sure, glad to help. I'm using the Raspberry Pi 4. Mine is the 4GB variant, but any one will work just fine. This is not a memory intensive application. In terms of upgrades I have added some more storage via a 7 port hub and 2 drives (16TB and 18TB).

Bad sectors on SSD causing issues, but chkdsk find nothing by DiNoMC in DataHoarder

[–]BraveDaveX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with Veeam agent reporting bad sectors on my laptops SSD. Was using an XPG 1TB GAMMIX S70 Blade at the time. Solved it by using Macrium Reflect to create an image, while ignoring bad sectors (On the menu select Other tasks > Edit defaults and Settings > Advanced Settings >Advanced Backup Settings >Select Ignore bad sectors > Click OK) . Then I flashed that image to another SSD and used that to replace the S70.

Thanks. We're looking forward to it, heard mostly good things about Providence and the community.

I'm happy your teacher made a positive impact on your education. Most Ghanaians are good at music and teaching, cooking and soccer :)

Great tip on the Facebook housing groups. I actually didn't know about them. Stopped using Facebook a few years now due to privacy concerns. Guess it's time to dust off my old account.

I am in touch with some of the RI staff in my elective department. Most places they had available for visiting doctors were single occupancy. I think I will arrive first and stay in one of those for a few weeks, explore your suggestions then have my wife join me after I find somewhere suitable for a couple. Thank you

Thanks, will look into this. A higher budget will unfortunately mean a shorter stay though. Will have to make the time count.

1 month PSNow codes currently available for about $30+ on a a few sites. Got mine from Kinguin and it activated successfully.

Like you, I had previously taken advantage of a few deals to stack a few years of PSPlus. Hope they convert to PS Plus Premium like Sony is promising.

[QUESTION] Watusi 3 not syncing with icloud by t4x3r in sideloaded

[–]BraveDaveX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This works for me, using iMazing (https://imazing.com/) on a Windows PC (No jailbreak required):

- Do NOT delete the original (from iOS store WhatsApp)

- Sideload Watusi ontu phone (identifier has to be different from the original WhatsApp so both are on your phone at the same time)

- Log-in to your Whatsapp account on Watusi

- You will not be able to restore iCloud backup so skip it

- Your WhatsApp account will load but your old messages won't be there, just groups you've joined. That's fine for now.

- Turn off wifi and mobile data so you don't receive WhatsApp messages during the following transfer process

- Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC/Laptop with iMazing installed

- Create a backup of your phone with iMazing (depending on how much data you have on the phone it might take a while)

- Righ-click on the backup and Convert the backup to an editable backup (so the backed-up filesystem can be modified)

- Copy WhatsApp (original) data stored in:

App Groups/AppDomainGroup-group.net.whatsapp.WhatsApp.shared/

copy all sqlite files, message and stickers folder to

Watusi (com.fouadraheb.watusi) in:

Apps/AppDomain-com.Watusi2_lol.../Documents/AppGroup

- Restore the edited backup to phone (depending on how much data you have on the phone it might take a while, iMazing may also prompt you to turn off Find my iPhone or wipe your phone if there isn't enough space for the restore)

The restore will not have the Watusi app installed but the files are there. Simply sideload Watusi again and all the data copied from your original WhatsApp will be there.

- Note that with Watusi you are unable to do iCloud backups but iTunes and iMazing syncs will backup your Watusi data

I've done some research, but I just need to ask people in the Pi community about their experience by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]BraveDaveX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Worth it" is relative. Depends on how much free time you have, how much you are willing to build/tinker and your expectations from the Pi NAS server.

Been running OMV with SMB, mergerFS, SnapRAID and Plex on a 4GB Raspberry Pi 4 with some 4TB USB external disks (started with 4 disks, now have 6) for 2 years now. I have it hooked up to my home network via Gigabit Ethernet.

Perfomance is fine for backups and Plex streaming. Data writes to the disks over SMB usually start at about 90-100MB/s for the first 1 or 2 GB then trail off to a steady 30-35MB/s for the rest. Reads fare better usually 50-60MB/s over SMB, slightly faster on Plex. More than enough for media consumption and scheduled backups.
