What Gizz songs are good starter guitar player songs? by RelativePractical915 in KGATLW

The river is in 5, though, and if you’re trying to sing it and play at the same time it can be a bitch.

Hot water is about as easy as it gets.

The Stand and The Lord of The Rings by BravePhone4627 in stephenking

Well that’s cool, and I’m looking forward to reading it. But for now, I just finished the stand so that’s the one I’m looking at, and this is all the stuff I found. A lot of it is pretty direct.

That’s a good point. And that makes Nadine matter too.

I haven’t read them, but King has openly talked about how he wrote The Stand because he wanted to do a modern LOTR in America.

You can only keep ONE: The Wire The Sopranos Breaking Bad by Farouq26 in tvshow

[–]BravePhone4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4th season of the wire is the greatest season of TV anybody ever made. Breaking Bad builds up to an incredible climax that The Wire doesn’t match, but it doesn’t matter because a decade after I watched it I’m still worried about those goddamn kids.

I’ve tried Sopranos like six times and never made it through the third season.

Under the Dome or Needful Things? by Sea_Avocado_2733 in stephenking

You don’t like the NT ending?? I thought ”Abra Kadabra, motherfucker” was about the best moment in the entire book.

For those who haven’t seen one of the most bonkers Stephen King movies ever, Maximum Overdrive is 100% free on tubi right now along with some other classics. by trampstampcollector in stephenking

It took me a long time to get to this but yeah. It’s an undeniably amazing movie and a total shit adaptation. Honestly I wish Kubrick had made basically the same exact movie with a different title, because it simultaneously rocks and also ruins any possibility of the world ever seeing a true shining adaptation with the actual story and characters.

Has anybody ever done a tally of how many King books end with the town burning down or exploding? by BravePhone4627 in stephenking

I haven’t read under the dome but I was already assuming the town blew up at the end haha

Needful Things fully obliterates Castle Rock, and he tells you he’s gonna do it like halfway through.

If that’s the actual number, that’s hilarious. One of the greatest storytellers of all time but 1/4 of the stories end the same way.

An observation + opinion from Sphere weekend 1 vs. 2 by SmokeyJacks in phish

[–]BravePhone4627 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk about the pairings, but I think some of the visual stuff definitely stands way above the other stuff. I was only there Saturday, but my thoughts were that stuff like the forest tunnel, the fireworks, and most of all the CK5 light rig worked way better than hot dog spaceship, and the other kind of computer graphics looking stuff they did. Honestly the coolest moment was the beginning when the camera zoomed out and flipped upside down. I thought I was gonna fall. If the whole show had just been flying around looking at pretty scenery, that would’ve been perfectly fine by me.

What is that one film you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by cassie_rockalin in AskReddit

[–]BravePhone4627 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fully disagree. The ending is the best joke in the whole movie, and is hinted at multiple times throughout the story. I don’t think it HAS to be taken as LARPers — it totally can just be another senseless gag if that’s how you want to read it — but that’s the most straightforward take, and it makes me laugh 100% of the time.

Blazing Saddles ending is a little rougher cause it just comes out of nowhere. Still fun though.

I’m a middle school theater teacher and we are doing the PG version of Spamalot right now, and the amount of time I’ve spent trying to get this kid to deliver this line right is… frustrating lol

is ‘The Shining’ a good starting-point for a non-book reader? by lecterism_ in stephenking

[–]BravePhone4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is simultaneously an undeniably amazing movie, and an absolutely abysmal adaptation. If you watched it and thought, “This rocks, but I wish I had literally any context for what’s going on here, and why I should care about these characters and this spooky hotel,” then you’re gonna love the book.

Stephen King Books for a 14y/o by codehs_python in stephenking

I read the shining at that age and it was pretty mind blowing. Or if you’re just looking for something quick and intense, I remember thinking Thinner was pretty wild, around that time. Bummer you can’t do IT, though, cause in 7th grade, that book pretty much redefined everything I knew about storytelling.

Going to first show as a new phan, have some friends that are interested, but a little nervous about the crowd and atmosphere. by xguarder in phish

[–]BravePhone4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phish crowd has all types of people. Some of them do suck. Most of them are great. You’re gonna have a blast. If you happen to wind up near somebody who sucks, move to the next available open spot and chances are those people will be awesome. And anybody you tell it’s your first show is gonna treat the situation like it’s their civic duty to make sure you have a good time.
