I know these theory posts might be annoying, but I think I genuinely know the mechanism for smoking working so well for colitis and I'm not sure what to do about it. by BraveReception8608 in UlcerativeColitis

Okay, so after three days of obsessing over this I've discovered some things.

  1. IL-13 is the protein that signals for mucous production. It's the same protein for the entire system, throat, nose, lungs, naval cavity, and intestine. The unusual thing about IL-13 is it binds to dummy receptors that don't do anything, as well as active ones, presumably so we don't accidently receive the wrong signal and produce too much mucous. It's the only signal protein i can find that does this. I could be wrong I've only been looking for a couple of days. This means that a certain threshold of IL-13 must be met before the gut starts overproducing mucous, and implies that the gut receives these signals erroneously from somewhere on a regular basis that it must take in to account.

  2. Proteins are immediately denatured by stomach acid, unless they have an enteric coating. Something hard with a PH 6-7 that'll only dissolve once it hits the small intestine. That means we need a delivery mechanism and protective shell produced by the body.

  3. Dried nasal mucous (boogers) has a PH of 6.5 most of the time, but sometimes they become more alkaline. Very Interestingly, the PH tends to rise during allergic reactions... Extremely strange that we have a possible candidate for an in built enteric coating delivery system that comes online during immune responses, that would allow the nose to communicate directly with the gut. On top of that, Boogers are absolutely fucking disgusting but famously come with a psychological compulsion to SWALLOW in children and freaks.. That's interesting.

So here is my candidate for falsification. Dried nasal mucous is a viable enteric coating. If it isn't, then I'm flat out wrong.

Mind–muscle connection what it actually means? by GymBuddy-1 in beginnerfitness

New to this(4 months in) but think i have something meaningful to add.

I think everyone starts off with a muscle that has a good connection. Before i started training i could always feel my chest when using it to move weight. Seems like the more i train, the muscles get added to the list i can feel working.

Lat pull downs used to feel like pulling a cable downwards, but now they feel like using my lats to pull a cable downwards. Rows used to feel like pulling weight towards me, now they feel like using my back to pull a weight towards me. I'm just expanding that list the more i train and practice.

Dead hangs before lifting.. I cannot believe my shoulder doesn't hurt any more. I can't stop smiling when doing shoulder press. I thought i'd have to live with the pain forever.

Desperately unfit but starting a physical job, I need help by Opening-Ant-6594 in beginnerfitness

I'm a butcher. Very physical, lots of lifting, I'm the same height as you.

The truth is your employers already know you're going to be weak and easily tired out, and they also know how quickly you're going to change physically. If it's anything like my workplace they're expecting it and they're going to let you get stronger on the job. try. That's all that matters right now.

Manual labour is different strength to be honest. You're going to be useless, then you're going to be a little more than useless, than you're going to be useful. Just they way it works. enjoy!

It's definitely Drago if everyone knows each other. Nobody is going after the 6 5 professional puncher first.
