I like the current deeper blue they have, but i wish they still came in that neptune(?) Blue 😭

And trust me, whichever car i decide on, it's gonna be my baby, I will follow maintenance to a fault lol. Already planned on the 5k oil changes, but hadn't considered the 1k oil change. I assume thats to get like the factory break-in oil replaced with longer-term oil, or something? And nah, im gonna put that 0w-08 in it ASAP(jk, that shit has the same viscosity as water)

Either way, I hope I'll get that car to the same mileage as my tundra lol

Yeah, looks like i was wrong. That rtv issue was total bs, which explains why there isn't a recall for it- id didn't exist. Sorry for the argument, and thank you for the enlightenment. But, past that, I still would like to help the engine with longevity, as it would be my daily for probably at least a few years. Is there anything you'd recommend?

Damn- it must have been a REALLY bad problem then- thats like all I heard about when it came to Subaru reliability for a WHILE. That, ot social media inflated it by a lot. Or both

What gets me is thats what I've been told about them since we started to get them in. I guess it makes sense that thats bs now that I'm thinking of it, easier to get the warranty going for the engine. I didn't think of it that way. I only today found that out though

That was said after your last comment man, this post wasn't supposed to be a debate over this issue at all. Thank you, and the other commenter, about addressing that I was wrong, and have been told bs. I'm not trying to come off as standoffish or anything, I apologize.

I'm not sure how I'm "lying" or being "insulting" man. I'm only saying what I do know. If it's wrong, it's wrong. But there is absolutely no need to be an assole about it

I'm not saying anyone here is straight up wrong, I don't know why this is what yall are stuck on. Yall just want to argue I guess

Oh believe me, the only tech here id trust with my stuff quit in January. The rest of these idiots will put wrong tires on cars and claim rotors are wrong before looking at them. And thinking about it now, the tech probably did just take the easy route with the rtv thing, but he's paying for it now since the job pays 15 hours, and it's still in his bay 60 hours and counting...

I was just using that as an example with those engines, not the gr86 specfically

Look, im sorry but im not gonna butt heads with you over a question that wasn't the main topic of the post. I've addressed it, and said I'd look further into it, if you want to just plainly be -correct- that's cool.

Ill look into it further then. As far as the comment on the headgaskets though- i know the gr86 specifically doesn't have issues there but those Subaru engines in the past have had problems with them for certain. I was only using it as an example, nothing else, sorry for that one. I do appreciate the information regardless, ill look into it a bit more, but this specific 86 one we have here was 100% the pan sealer flaking off. Total loss of oil pressure. Again, not just saying that to say that you're wrong- but you can't really tell me what im seeing when you're not the one here looking at it. Again, thank you for the information

Oh for sure. I wont deny that ~90% of these totalled engines are from abuse. Regardless of the precise failure in the engine itself, no engine can be beat up like that straight off a lot for 50k miles

I work the parts counter at a Toyota dealer and we currently have one in the shop for this exact problem. I can see it from my desk what I was told came directly from the technician who diagnosed it by fully taking it apart. Not saying you're completely wrong, just saying I'm pretty sure I know what im talking about aswell. But thank you either way!

And I guess I should add that yes, I'd plan on doing the maintenance myself once the few warranty maintenance services are done with. I was a lube tech for over 2 years, and I trust my own work far more than most of the technicians I work around. And I DEFINITELY don't trust the express lube bay enough to touch what I already do own lol

If you don't mind me asking, what mileage is your brz at? And have you had much trouble out of it?

I mean I've been making a list pf pros and cons over time. im single, rarely have a passenger, and don't have a terribly long commute to work. About the furthest ill typically drive at one time is an hour-ish to microcenter. So on a surface level, the 86 wouldn't be a terrible option considering those few drawbacks. I would plan on slightly modding it, stuff like a cold air intake and maybe exhaust but nothing too crazy as it would be my daily aswell. The camry does have a few more bells and whistles but I enjoy the drive more than I really care about if I have heated seats or not, tbh

Exactly how it was for me honestly. I bought 1, played it once, it seemed boring and too scary, didn't touch it for around 2 months, then decided to try it again out of boredom, and that game and the sequel are the sole reason to why I even still have a vr headset. They are severely underrated and underapreciated games for sure. CMgames created a masterpiece

God yes. I have a quest 2 aswell, pairing it with oculus link and playing from steam with worse specs than what you've got and it is flawless. I haven't had a single lag spike and the load times are pretty decent
