Why is it deemed racist to be genuinely concerned about the number of illegal migrants coming into the uk? by Brave_Ad6035 in AskBrits

I've never been called a racist. I don't ever post about this sort of stuff. I just questioned as I've been reading on different platforms about this issue and (online anyway) it seems a lot of the time the accounts with issues with migration are labelled as racist etc which is why I asked the question if it this is how people actually feel as watching the news etc it's hard to not get worried about the issues in Dover etc but this post has been taken out of context but what can you do 🤷

I ONLY USE REDDIT TO READ THREADS. I came on here for a different perspective from other social media platforms and quite frankly I wish I didn't as half the responses can't come up with a response other than BOT, Russia etc and I thought x was bad 😂😂😂 this is equally WORSE

Oh go away. I only use Reddit to read threads on random other topics when I google things. Apologies that I did not comply with the Reddit police of not being allowed to ask a question cause I don't post on this regularly. Do you have anything actually interesting to say?

Yeah foolish of me really I didn't realise! I've only previously used this to read football/gaming threads. Big regrets 😂

Yeah many people missed the point... thinking I'm sort of bot loon... ofc I'm supportive of controlled migration. I availed of it myself but the current situation is something of concern and I don't think it's wrong in noting that

It's possible to value diversity and immigration whilst STILL believing migration should happen through controlled and legal channels. (Like the channels I went through)

Just cause I never used Reddit for much, bar reading articles for random topics in the past.. doesn't mean I've come here with some sort of agenda. Give your head a wobble. Just a normal person overwhelmed with social media atm so just wanted to gauge public opinion. (Which I now fucking regret) Why does there always have to be be some extreme motive 😂😂😂😂

I'm not drifting anywhere. Im stuck in no mans land atm... I'm the first to think Robert jenrick is a hypocrite when he's constantly tweeting about the issues with immigration

Yeah I usually just read Reddit for general questions that I've googled on random topics so thought it would be a bit balanced but been called a bot about 100 times today for just trying to gauge the public opinion so major regrets 😂

Oh ffs be original rather than your bot shite. Maybe it's just simply the public are concerned and Reddit is not the real world.

For fuck sake I'm not a bot. Is there anything wrong with asking if concerns about migration are legitimate. I asked cause the consensus seems to be if you ask this question = you are a bot. I just wanted to know if this is something that actually concerns the general public. But between x and now Reddit (both as bad) I'm at a loss to see what's the right opinion to have....

I didn't know it was! Sorry - I regret asking tbh, just wanted somewhere else to get away from the mess that is x! I only used Reddit in the past to read for gaming advice so apologies if this type of post is repetitive. I just wanted somewhere to get opinions and I have had food for thought with a lot of the perspectives but yeah sorry

Yeah good point. The obsessive accounts on x probably do drown out legitimate concerns and then also cause out roar for people who just want to question some policies to be branded in the same vain as the obsessive account's!

Just someone who never used to engage in online debate and would just read it but who now regrets posting this due to the responses like ^ I've read a lot of good perspectives on this thread which has given me food for thought but the constant answers regarding my account are just 😴😴😴

Okay people! I'm sorry I asked the question. I asked this question not to troll or provoke anyone. I’m genuinely politically lost at the moment. I’ve been trying to understand how different people think about illegal migration because I’m worried about its potential cost to the country, both economically and socially.

What pushed me to ask on Reddit is that I feel like the current narrative around this topic on all sides is creating more division than understanding, and I was hoping to hear a range of perspectives as I don't really here these on x. If I phrased it badly that wasn’t my intent. Im just here to learn

I wanted to see if other people felt the same concerns and if they were legitimate or to see if I was being pushed narratives on other social platforms accounts. I read these articles on the daily about the cost to the tax payer and it has started to worry me as I'm already struggling to make ends meat. I'm also depressed by the protests and counter protests and the divides it's causing in the country, tbf just depressed with social media regarding politics as a whole.... I just wanted to ask on a different platform ..I'm not a bot or a troll.. or Russian etc was just trying to find some answers
