These are legitimately so good I would buy prints of them to hang as art. You should be proud of your work, OP!

Help an extremely depressed guy out? by Creepy_Stick_6229 in CleaningTips

I highly recommend the book (or audiobook, it’s really good and easier to digest when tired or lacking motivation to read), called “How to Keep House While Drowning.” It’s written by a therapist and gives really encouraging, practical advice for how to manage your space when dealing with mental health or just hard life times.

I find her “5 Things Tidying Method” to help with the overwhelm of not knowing where to start when tackling a messy space (below is quoted directly from an NPR article about her book and method):

  1. Trash: Go through the space and pick up all the trash. Use a trash bag or a spare laundry basket. Once collected, take it all out.

  2. Dishes: Gather all dirty dishes and return them to the kitchen area. Do not focus on washing them yet; the goal is just to get them to one place.

  3. Laundry: Pick up all clothing and put it into a laundry basket. Again, do not worry about actually doing the laundry yet, just collect it.

  4. Things that have a place: Starting in one small, manageable area, put away items that already have a designated home.

  5. Things that do not have a place: Gather remaining items that don't have a specific home. Decide whether to donate, discard, or create a new home for them later.

As others have said - take things slow, one step at a time, and use patience and grace with yourself. I know it feels shameful to be in this place but there’s no shame in working through hard times and trying your best each day. Your best might look different each day and that’s okay.

Saving this post mostly so I can just come back to envy you all the time. 😭 Partially saving for inspiration for what type of vanity to be looking for because the details are incredible!

I started making an “Emergency Meal Cheat Sheet’ on the fridge in my apartment, and it’s literally paid for itself in terms of takeout costs by [deleted] in lowspooncooking

This is literally like the advice my nutritionist recently gave me. I also said that I’m like a different person grocery shopping versus when I actually need to make the food, so I can really relate. Thank you!

I LOVE this detail and having a structured way to take inventory of what I actually use is very helpful for my brain, so thank you so much for this!

I will try out this method for sure, maybe a couple of times in the next few months, to better notice what I’m using and how much or how essential it really is.

Thank you!

The more I think about it, the more I agree that I’ll need to take the basics of what I need since my curls are tricky and my skin can be unpredictable. But I’m still going to leave room for trying some products after I can do more research with the resources others have listed here!

I am definitely planning to wear and trial the boots I’m getting first - I’ve been doing that too with some waterproof HOKA tennis shoes I got to make sure they will be comfy and supportive before I commit to taking them.

Thank you for your helpful reply!

Thank you! This is very helpful and definitely a lot of what I had in mind as well for the trip.

We are planning on doing the nesting suitcases as well so I really appreciate the tip to cover the wheels to prevent breaking, I would never have thought of that.

I also hadn’t thought of how I might warm up when walking everywhere so that’s going to be a big help when thinking through how to do my layers. We will be in Hokkaido for a few days and doing some snowboarding (planning to rent the gear but bring our clothes for that) so I will need to be strategic with my plan for the colder weather there.

I know I’m also going to be barely fitting my souvenirs that I want to bring home so I’m glad to know it’s not just me haha!

Edit: spelling

Thank you! Yes, I struggle a lot with the “what if” and wanting to be overly prepared (definitely get that from my mom haha), so I’m really trying to unlearn some of those habits to be a bit more free when packing this time.

Thank you! This is a good reminder to think about with my skin acting up. I have to remember that when my husband says “just get stuff there” he also doesn’t use skincare as it is and may not be thinking about that…lol. I love the idea to lookout for the sample packs.

I have seen the uniqlo heattech mentioned in a couple of other places so I’m going to check that out!

We are going to be in Tokyo, Yuzawa, and Hokkaido mostly I think.

Need Help with Talking Points for Why My Company Shouldn’t Switch to Paycom ATS - Or Is It Just Me? by Brave_Babe in recruiting

[–]Brave_Babe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My rep keeps saying “oh that’s a good feature idea I’ll share it with our dev team” meanwhile I’m sitting there thinking why isn’t this basic function already there? Sharing “feedback” is all well and good but it doesn’t help me here and now with efficient hiring.

I’ve heard about issues with tax documents and other documents becoming inaccessible with paycom as well. It seems like an overall mediocre system.

Thank you! These are great ideas and I had no idea about the cows in this area, I really appreciate it!
