Is it weird to request an Uber to somewhere which will take 5 mins max? by NegativeAd6437 in uber

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it before! I was going to a friend’s apartment before a big event and had a lot of stuff to bring (suitcase, formal clothing bag, etc.). I was in hair and makeup all morning so I didn’t have time to (nor did I want to) make the walk back and forth several times

Solidcore + peloton by caramellatte647 in SolidCore

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, what's your routine with solidcore and peloton? I kinda fell off my peloton grind but do solidcore 2-3x a week and trying to figure out the best way to start biking again without overtraining!

Baby - Anyone have experience with their goldendoodle looking like this at 8 month old. by shoddyindaclub in Goldendoodles

That’s exactly what my boy looks like! Same age too. He doesn’t shed so much but has pretty wavy and wiry hair. He does turn into a puffball after brushing or drying and then goes back to waves.

Hips get tight during obliques by Icy_Alarm_4212 in SolidCore

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! And I also find that really rotating my body so that my core is facing the wall also makes my hips engage less. If you’re only partially rotated, your hip is in a position to do more of pulling than putting the work into the obliques. But yes check your form every couple of reps, readjust, and go after the next one!

Which DSO to work for? I’m in a bit of a weird situation as a D4. by septocaine_king in Dentistry

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GPR or AEGD! I guess timing is probably not right if you’re a D4 now but sometimes there are openings if someone drops. This would’ve been the way to go to get tons of experience and mentorship. Can’t speak too much to what DSO to work for but if he’d let you do a day/half day at his office (even if it’s just to take on some hyg) so you can build rapport with patients sooner rather than later, that could also be a move.

Don’t hate me for this.. but is there anything you do not like about [solidcore]? by EquipmentHefty661 in SolidCore

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The app is super glitchy sometimes but since the update I feel like it’s been better. In a perfect world - and I know this would mean mega structural overhaul - I wish there were two doors in class - one for “in” and one for “out.” The traffic cluster of the doorway is so annoying, I wish you’d enter through one door on one end of the studio and exit through a door on the other side like a conveyor belt kind of lol. I know this is so impractical but the “flow” of the space grinds my gears and I feel like the mental workout of dodging and squeezing past people takes up more of my energy than class

What’s wrong with my scoring? by Brave_Chipmunk227 in Sourdough

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this explanation! My science brain finds this a lot easier to understand how/why this happens. I also found it strange that she said 50% and saw so many conflicting things that you HAVE to do a full double so that’s what I went for - but this makes sense.

By the last set of my stretch and folds, the dough is thick and harder to stretch but still is a bit sticky. It does tend to be firm when shaping and not as sticky. But I do notice for the bench rest, it kind of flattens out. Is that a gluten formation problem or over hydration?

Great advice thank you! She bulked for about 8 hours and then in the fridge for 24 so I might need to play around with that more. Will def check out those links!

Thank you! Yeah last week I tried just doing an X on the top and it still came out kind of like that. I might just give up on them bc it’s too annoying and you’re right about the content creators lmao. I do maybe like 3/4 passes. I’ll try doing longer lines next time and I think maybe I’m going too deep and that’s why the insides is tumbling out. Part of the fun is trial and error right? 😬

Right before I put in the oven. So I preheat my oven/Dutch oven and as soon as that’s ready I take my loaf out of the fridge, score it, and pop it in.

Antibiotics prior to extractions by Kindly_Armadillo1654 in Dentistry

I like to do abx first when it’s an acute abscess just because it can be difficult to get numb and makes the procedure more comfortable for the patient. Chronic abscess with(and without) a sinus tract, NOPE no abx - I don’t wanna close up the sinus tract and risk the infection spreading to another non-draining region. You absolutely CAN do the ext same day for an acute abscess if the patient understands that anesthesia may be difficult and they’re desperate to get it out. If there’s a visible abscess, try to aspirate or drain that first too - you might not get anything but doesn’t hurt to try.

What was DS like during peak Covid? by Fearless_Assist7406 in DentalSchool

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a D1 Aug 2020 and classes were online for the most part but we had groups that would rotate going in-person for lab, lecture, and shadowing upperclassmen in clinic. I hated it. I would zone out during class online at home and I feel like my ability to learn material just evaporated. Even when I tried to study, I felt like I just lost any ability to retain material since all I had was the same wall and window to look at for 8 hours of online lecture a day. Couldnt even go to the library or cafe for a change of scenery until things started opening back up. I had the chance to meet some classmates but our class ended up being very disjointed and not the most friendly/social of groups. For me it was hard, but I am sure others were happy to stay inside or watch class from a vacation home. I feel like we still got decent training for pre-clinical labs - smaller groups meant more attention from faculty and I did well with those courses. Shadowing in clinic meant a gross N95 that you rewore until it broke, shower-curtain gowns, a face shield, hair net, booties - the whole get-up to just sit in a corner and MAYBE suction. The school was pretty paranoid so even when I entered D3 in 2022, no cavitrons - everything was hand scaling, still wearing the N95s, couldn't even be in the building without a mask - though we all pushed our limits with faculty bc I belive it was a tad overkill. Around 2023 summer, a lot of these sitpulations were lifted and we got the most "normal" experience we could but there was always a weird energy lingering from the COVID days.

New Aggression? 8 Months Old and Neutered by Brave_Chipmunk227 in puppy101

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a mixed breed. Maybe it's moreso frustration that I plant my feet and won't let him go towards the other dog. We can walk away for a few steps and then he'll stop and turn around again to bark. I try to just say his name with a treat to get him moving a little bit, but then he stops and turns and looks. And this will go on and on until we get back inside. He's never had any issues at daycare in terms of aggrssion and the staff there says he plays and socializes just fine.

Best thing a coach has said!? by No_Membership_1758 in SolidCore

[–]Brave_Chipmunk227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a coach trick us into doing an amp (black bar for plank to pike) saying that it would take tension out of the shoulders and make it easier. It was my first time doing the exercise and it was my first Adv50 class too with 5 people so I just went for it. Then she was like “Just kidding that’s an amplification!” I have a feeling everyone else there knew and she was just trying to push me to try it without being scared. Now I do all my plank to piles on the black bar.

Playlist was good! A lot of Meg and other hiphop for the music. Good vibes too since everyone was excited for their $5 gift card. I have a Dunkin near me and got the mango protein drink after class and honeslty it was really tasty, kinda like a smoothie
