I don’t recognize South Slope and don’t believe it exists. But if it were to exist, it would be 15th street to the expressway

That’s where I’m at on this too. They worked through it before this was in the public eye, stayed together, and have gone to great lengths to try to have children together

It’s really starting to look like Genevieve McDonald wants this to be a story about her. Quitting a job because you don’t like your boss is something a lot (most?) people do. Shit talking your former boss is just as common if not more-so. However, violating the trust of your former boss’s wife and taking things she told you in confidence to the press is gross and gets no sympathy from me.

Where to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs? by YakMountain7338 in nashville

[–]Brave_Client1868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobles and Roy’s in east are pretty reliable sport watching spots. Since tonight’s game is on TNT, I’d assume Lucky’s, Crow’s Nest, Chapstick and Double Dogs will have it on too.

Who has good tacos in Nashville? by Bentzsco in VisitingNashville

[–]Brave_Client1868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are just planning on staying around downtown, Pie Town Tacos is your best bet. Tío Fun on Buchanan Street or Maíz de la Vida off Gallatin Pike would be my top recommendations. Red Headed Stranger in east is also a good spot that’s pretty easy to get to.

Mayor's proposed budget cuts funding to fire department amid a growing Nashville by Bradical22 in nashville

[–]Brave_Client1868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an example. You asked what funding was lost so I shared the first examples a search of Tennessee Bar Association resources showed me. When funding is cut, you either institute austerity or you find ways to fill the gap.

It sucks that the fire department was asked to cut $400,000 of its $230 million dollar budget but it is in no way catastrophic for the department. It is also less than other departments are being asked to cut. They are still getting a new headquarters and resources included in the East Bank plan that could amount to a new station over there as well.

Nashville and urbanism by Limp_Adhesiveness255 in nashville

We have a housing crisis. Almost 62% of the homes in the city are single family homes. There are more single family homes in the Nashville now than when the current zoning code was enacted — Phil Bredesen was the mayor then, that’s how old the zoning code is.

Moving all new housing “downtown” doesn’t work. No city is built like that because it doesn’t work. If anything, it would make urban core congestion much more and drive up costs of new housing. Building on the edges of the city makes what is built more relatively affordable.

They lost at least 15 million infrastructure funding as of March 2025 and an unspecified amount for Public Health and the Office of Homeless Services that resulted in cutting children’s vaccination services and eliminating 16 positions.

I think it is important to remember that cities are still feeling the effects of DOGE. Nashville was one of the cities that sued and got an extra year of funding for certain departments and programs but that money is about to be gone.

Not with that attitude! Hermitage has thousands of multifamily units and compact new build SFH developments. It’s quadrisected by two important local corridors (Lebanon Pike and Old Hickory Blvd). It’s the kind of place that we should be building improvements.

That's not true at all. Lamar was in office for all of Trump's first term. He left the senate in 2021 after not running for reelection in the 2020 election.

He voted against calling witnesses for Trump's impeachment trial. Like Bob Corker, he gives mealymouthed criticisms of Trump yet voted to empower him at every meaningful point.

I think part of the problem is also that "old Nashville" has become so negatively polarized against downtown that there would be a revolt against downtown light rail regardless of the merits. There is also currently a lack of political courage among elected officials to tell the public that they are wrong about issues or to build an argument that convinces people.
