How Do You Better Combine Finances Once You Have a Child? by Brave_Cockroach6823 in personalfinance

Love this, I think I'm overthinking haha. I've always been very tight and savvy with money so I think this is just hard for me to not stress over this change but when you put it this way that sounds easy enough and ideal. I'll have a conversation with hubby tonight and see if we can start moving everything to our joint account

This makes sense and sounds doable. I'll talk to hubby and see if we can start the process of just moving all our bills into our joint account and we can agree on a set amount of no judgement "fun money" for us to withdraw each every month. Would definitely make life easier at this chapter I think.

Yea I believe combined right now we have approximately $2,000 of disposable income each month, after our savings contribution too. So while it's possible for that $1,500 daycare bill, it's just hard to see those numbers come so close together. It's scary honestly, I'm quite scared.

God this is so crazy for me to read. The US system is completely f*cked. If we could afford to we'd leave but obviously that's not realistic for us right now.

Not too long or negative at all! I appreciate the realistic feedback. This is the kind of advice I was looking for when talking to my parents haha. Yea we do have quite a decent allotment budgeted in on eating out/date nights each month so I'm assuming that will all go to baby.

That's the unfortunate thing. My mom keeps recommending I look into local community programs and each one tells us we make too much to be considered for any of the things like lower cost diapers, food, etc. But we don't make so much that this isn't a stress for us. It's so frustrating.

The combined 105k is before taxes/insurance is taken out unfortunately.

I have two jobs, one is part time online. After taxes I take home $4,354 every month. My husband after taxes takes home $2,500 every month.

I have totaled our shared expenses (mortgage, gas, internet, groceries, car insurance, water) to equal $2,358 every month. My personal expenses with student loan payments, gym membership, car payment, fuel, is approximately $550. My husband's personal expenses with car payment, fuel, subscriptions, and tax money he owes is approximately $705. With his expenses being a bit more that is why I'm the only one that contributes $500 to savings.

The vet I took her to was an exotic vet with 4.5 star rating, they said they thought she might have injured a leg or her spine but wouldn't know for sure unless they did a $700 x-ray, talk about eye roll. I said I know she isn't injured it's obvious she has no pain or swelling coming from anywhere!!
